Hello again! The family and I are really enjoying Neo
but have a few questions that are unusually hard to find on google:
1. When are Macaw hormonal seasons in Hawaii? He thinks Im the hottest thing around and I was unintentionally encouraging it but I've stopped after much reading. Seems like the majority of information says spring time but its nearly October.
2. Feather molt\plucking: Neo looses about 5-15 feathers a day..closer to 10-15 on most days. This has been ongoing for 2-3 weeks. He does have a ton of pin feathers on his head, neck and around his face so it seems like he's molting but he also has a completely naked spot the size of a quarter on his tummy. He looses tiny little feathers, yellow, black, green feathers, 2 tail feathers ect. He's gone from a straight seed diet to vegetables and Harrison pellets.
Before anyone asks, he has not seen a vet yet. Im pretty sure he's never seen a vet before. That will be happening very soon but in the mean time, any wisdom on the above questions would be greatly appreciated!
THANKS!
