I need to vent. So this is what happened at my local bird store:
There is this one cockatoo in one of the rooms at the bird store. She is all plucked and she doesn't have lots of feathers. I went over to her mad she said,"Hello." And i said hi back. Then I told her you're a pretty bird.
This guy (maybe 21 years old) comes to the cage and says,"Pretty bird?!! You have got to be kiddigmme. That is the ugliest bird alive, it doesn't even have feathers. What type of macaw is that anyways?"
He doesn't even know what she is, but he thinks that just because she plucked, she's ugly. To me, that bird was a very pretty bird. Beautiful. I wanted to smash the guys face in the wall. I asked him what bird he has and he says..."Oh i dot know. One of those big blue and orange ones.Who cares? It's just a bird." Man that guy probably has no experience with birds and he has a blue and gold macaw. Could even be a Catalina or hyacinth. I swear, it because a bird doesn't have feathers, doesn't mean it's just an ugly bird. And people with no experience with parrots shouldn't get a bird. Especially a macaw that is a more difficult bird as a first bird. I done with my rant.

:( Thats so sad :( Esp since its because of people that she got that way. What are they asking for her, if you don't mind me asking? Its sad that there are people out there like that.

i understand and hear you. a lot of dumb people out there and they are insufferable.

I wouldve been like "oh, your hairline is crooked, how could anyone think that looks good?" but I'm just rude like that.

Poor baby. It's sad that the cash they can get for an animal is worth more than the welfare of the animal itself. Sad, sad world.

Sorry should have said they are a store/rescue. I think two of the people that work there are breeders of various parrots, and they sometimes keep the baby birds there at the shop. They also take in neglected birds and keep them, or give them away to experienced people. I don't think they were going to give her away anytime soon. They have a rescue scarlet, some zons, two other toos, and two sun conures, all neglected. I donate toys there sometimes. :) I really don't think she had a price. I never asked, but man if I had Way more experience and moore time and space, I would've considered taking her. But, sadly I don't have these things. :( I'm not sure, sorry.

No, thats fine, I really cant take another right now (I thought it was a regular store, now it makes a little more sense). I would maybe talk to the store owners about the employee? Seems strange that you would have someone like that in a bird store/rescue environment. Makes you wonder how he would treat the birds.

No he's not an employee, he was a customer. I wanted him to be kicked out, but ,maybe the store owners wouldn't agree...

Oh, thats even worse, cant believe people like that have birds. So sad :(. I wish sometimes that birds were considered exotics and you had to have a class 3 to have them. I don't think that would be realistic, or even possible to do but there are so many people out there just like that. Its really the birds who suffer.

It's so sad. :( You want a bird as a companion, not a status symbol or a talking machine. ugh..... this whole thinnhas got me a bit agitated.

Lets cross our fingers that he doesn't actually own a bird, or it belongs to his parents! :(

I have to agree with Lori. Usually when rudeness is directed towards me, rudeness is given back. Now that I have gotten older I tend to have more fun with idiots like this. Have you ever insulted someone in a way that they have no clue they have been insulted? You can insult them and they usually laugh and nod their head....absolutely priceless. Oh the fun I would have had with that idiot. Oh well I am sure I will encounter another tomorrow. Unfortunately those suckers are breeding like mad and you can't go anywhere these days without having to deal with an idiot. Take a deep breath and learn to laugh at their ignorance. It doesn't hurt them because they have no clue what you are laughing about.

Well I tend to be a nice person unless an idiot ticks me off. Then sarcasm is my best friend. ;) But then again, I'm not very goodat arguing or that kind of stuff. My weakness is feeling sorry after I insult someone. Hah Hah. :/

i am happy that there are people out there that do care about animals, especially injured, scarred, and imperfect ones.

I'm pretty sure the sign said 'citron cockatoo' by the way. I have almost no knowledge on toos, I think that's a type of too. Right?
