Needed: parrot feathers for education!

Each year I work with a local kindergarten class teaching avian education. One of my programs focuses on parrots and parrot habitat conservation, including a discussion about feathers (e.g. understanding that it is not okay to pick up feathers in the wild, but it IS okay to possess feathers from non-native birds like parrots). Last year a member of the forums was able to send me enough feathers for each child, but he is no longer able to and I wondered if any other members might be willing to save some feathers during their birds' molt and send them to me? I would be happy to pay for postage within the USA.

Ideally I would be looking for brightly-colored feathers (Macaws, Conures, Grey tail feathers, etc.) that are about the length of a finger.

Pm me an address and number you need. I don't throw out feathers, I have grey, conure and cockatoo. Also Chicken, turkey and Guinea fowl if you have a use for them in the future.

I believe that you are the same person that made this request in the past. And, it is wonderful that you are back asking again. Your last Thread: Small parrot feathers needed (for education) (

1 2) and from that, Thread, I believe that you had been success and therefore a known Member that understands and properly presents knowledge regarding feathers. That knowledge is likely to encourage a larger population of Members to contribute this year!

FYI: As you know, Macaws provide very few tail feathers under 4" (100 mm).

I have a couple dozen feathers from Salty that we have been holding onto, for no good reason. But they are all like 4-5" long. Green, green and blue, green and red and a few with all 3 colors. My lady wants 2 to make into earrings, but you're welcome to the rest.

Thank you, SailBoat! Yes, I am the same person, and my kids were SUPER excited about their parrot feathers last year! They even drew pictures of them in their daily journals. Thank you for everyone who has responded -- I have sent out PMs!
