I am needing to register my dog soon to compete but i have no idea what to reg him as!! Any ideas would be great!

He is a blue merle with one full blue eye and one that is part blue and part brown.

I can use the kennel name Karamea in front but i don't have to. His dad is called Spark and his mum is called Ice.

His name is Arie (which means lion in hebrew or superior/the best in greek).

This is what he looks like =D

Oh wow, i have seen dogs with blue eyes, but i have never seen with half blue half brown! How incredible :)

How about sticking to the theme of what his name is? Arie, and then another interesting/meaningful name in hebrew or greek?

I am not sure what show registration dog names are meant to be like?

With my horses, i had their names, then chose something else which was in that movie..

So-

Klaatu... His show name is Klaatu Barada Nikto...

Because in the day the earth stood still.. The alien was called Klaatu, and Barada Nikto was the quote the big alien god thing said ;)

Then there is Kitai-

Kitai was in the movie After Earth.... and the planets name was called- Nova Prime..

So Kitais show name is called Kitai Prime Nova

Then Kyros was the only one i didn't choose from a movie!

But I always wanted to have 'Colossal Velocity' for a show name, because it is off the teaser trailer for Alan Partridge ;)

So! Kyros's show name is- Kyros Colossal Velocity- Which actually really suits him

Gosh i have weird taste in names..

Every one else just chooses names like- Prince _____ ;)

:D hahahaaha

Oh Free - he's just adorable !! I kinda like Karamea Blu (or Blue) - has a nice ring to it.

I think names are SO IMPORTANT - they can color the rest of the animals (or person's) life and help create that all important first impression.

Tabitha, did you see that After Earth won worst movie of 2013???? I just read that today - how sad.

Gary- So you don't use the dogs 'name' in the show name? Or is that optional? I have no idea :S

Is it like agility trials that you will compete at? Like the little competitions you take the dog to on Nintendogs? Running through tunnels, jumping hurdels, see-saws, pole bending

Totally optional - the 'show' name can be totally unrelated to the everyday name - I've seen some really fancy ones lol Freespin was referring to a kennel name above, and some kennels are VERY particular about using that in the name and creating sort of a dynasty. It's probably the same with horses as well.

Freespin, what kind of competition are you referring too?

Ohhh right.

Yes some breeders like to have their studs name before the horses name for shows.. Usually its just the high profile warmblood studs that are out competing.. Most people don't use the old studs name, and just change it to what they like

Kyros's show name was Sea Mist Hercules - paddock name Hercules :20: Just a little too common for me

Sea Mist is nice though

Kitai was called Scotch Impact! :p

lollll i love those names - esp Sea Mist.

Ohhhh Karamea Misty Blu Eyes lol

Really? WORST movie??? It wasn't great, but i could think of ALOT more movies...

and i watch alot ;) Have 112 movies watched since mid year

Well, i thought the IDEA of After Earth was just brilliant...

When the trailer first came out i just could not wait to see it!!

The acting was terrible, Jaden was very bad, and Will had a terrible role, unlike his usual loving brave self..

and the plot was bad...

and they did annoying accents..

I'm not sure how to explain it... It's just like, the idea, scenery, effects, and different scenes were brilliantly thought out..

But they just didn't make it interesting and suspenseful.. There was no deep plot to it  They should of done the same thing, but with a different story line !

Actually think this years action sci fi movies were pretty disappointing... Elysium, Oblivion, After earth.. All looking forward to them and let down! :p

A little off topic :54:

I could not agree with you MORE - I am a HUGE scifi fan, LOVE THEM. I did like Oblivion, and I just watched Elysium 2 days ago and I enjoyed it, but I"m a big lefty so it was right up my alley - After Earth was a brilliant idea, but the worst execution - poor Jaden lol.

Here is the article about it:

'After Earth,' 'Sharknado' named year's worst movies - TODAY.com

I watch a lot of movies also - I'm a slave to netflix lol and my blu-ray player. Ooops I see you're in Australia, Netflix is a company that you subscribe too and pick DVDs or Blu-rays that they mail to your house, or you can subscribe to an online streaming service - like Amazon Prime. I'm thinking we have a lot in common lol

I will be competing agility with him (he has to be 18months to compete) which is the jumps and tunnels and a frame and weaves etc etc =)

Thanks for all of the ideas so far. What do you do with your horses tab?

Is it hard to teach them agility? My puppy knows how to sit.... ;) hahaha

Have you got any more pics of Arie?

Klaatu is a baby so he does nothing.. Kitai is retired because of hoof issues..

But Kyros does dressage and starting showjumping for the first time in his life :)

Will start competing with showjumping next year.. But we go for our first training session this friday with an olympic showjumper :D

Then a bit further into next year will start cross country, because he needs to learn his control with jumping before we go racing around a cross country field hahaha

But when all that is sorted we will start eventing!

and then you will see us at the 2020 olympics ;) Hahaha

oh awesome =D I have a ton of pics of Arie, you really asked for it! mwahahaha

Uhm Arie has been pretty easy to train, he is a very cool dog and i have had some really great people helping me. Its just consistence and time really though i imagine it could be rather frustrating with not so clever dogs haha XD

I also ride, though not as much as i used to! I work with standardbreds so mainly drive these days but i used to showjump and have an off the track standie that i now ride (one of my racehorses i couldnt bare to part with!!).

My old showjumper

Oh and this is Arie and his family XD The red merle with prick ears is mum (the other big red one is just another dog they own) and the two blue merles are his brother and sister

Oh wow :D Did you do cross country as well? You look like you are flying over those logs!

Cant wait until next year! There is one of queenslands biggest cross country courses near us which you can go and practice on.. So shall be fun! Not sure how Kyros will go with water jumps ;)

I think the big horses are actually the sweetest haha my 17.1hh thoroughbred has the nicest nature, but my 8hh and 12hh ponies are both naughty little things :p

Those agility pictures are incredible..

He looks like he really knows what he is doing around those poles.. I hope to see lots of pictures when you start competing! :D

I imagine it would take alot of time to train, just starting basic and making things harder and faster..

I know my puppy would never ever be able to do that, his breed just guards things, very lazy and shy  haha

Very unique looking boy! :)

What breed is your pup?

Yea i did a couple of eventing shows here and there and loved schooling cross country. That particular horse was such an awesome ride XC. LOVED the water jumps too. The xc training days are so much fun, you will have a blast! Would love to see pics!

There are all sorts of breeds doing agility! Even a girl with a Samoyed at my club (although it is taking a lot longer to train than my boy). Arie is pretty consistent which is great and he is getting pretty good at the weaves =D

My little dog is no einstein and he has "issues". He qualified to do agility classes (basically they just have to be capable of hanging about and not heading for the hills, but he hadn't done much training when they said he could join in). Unfortunately, I couldn't keep going, but he was surprisingly good at learning it for the short time we went. I've got some equipment at home to practise with, just haven't got around to it yet. There are some dogs/breeds who are naturally really good at it, but I think anybody can learn.
