Red collar rainbow lorikeet
Hi i just not long ago purchased my first bird rocky the rainbow lorikeet and i am in the process of training him and bonding with him . the only problem is that he seems more interested in the other wild rainbow lorikeets that hang out in trees around my house , and i find it very hard to get his attention . will him talking to the other birds make our bonding process harder ?? he is constantly looking out window talking to them .

any advice would be greatly appreciated :green:

Take him to a quiet, well lit place whenever you're training. Keep any potential distractions out of this quiet place, and keeping it well lit will help him to be more bright-eyed during the session.

Tell us all how it works out!

I agree with ParrotQueen. Try to find a quiet place to train him in.

Can he see the other birds or just hear them? If he can see them I suggests covering the window somehow maybe with curtains or blinds?

When I work with Dusty and he seems particularly distracted, I turn on some music. Dusty likes to sing and Dance so when i turn on the music he focuses on the music. I let him have his time of fun and then i turn the music off and he seems to pay more attention to what i am trying to teach him.

I also just realized that you just recently got Rocky. Maybe if you give him a little while to adjust to his new surroundings and home he will pay more attention to you?

yeah i have only had rocky for 4 days now so i understand he is still adjusting .. as for the other lorikeets he cannot see them but he definatly hears them and lets off shrieks as if he is calling them . i will try and find a quiet spot in my house except its hard cause i live on a property and there are over 50 lorikeets around my house most of the day every room you go in you can hear the little buggers lol
