Hi everyone!!!!

I going out of town this weekend to visit my mom and I don't want to leave Kiwi (my GCC) home alone. Her cage is too big and won't fit in my car. I feel super bad leaving her behind. :64: she is with me all day when I'm home.

My parents also have birds and my mom has a nice size cage that she is no longer using for her birds. Its in great condition.

My question is: can I use it to keep Kiwi in over the weekend. Honestly she will only be in it at night to sleep. I plan on bringing some of her perches from her cage, lots of favorite toys and her sleeping hut.

Is this an ok/good idea? Please let me know what you guys think. ::eek:

I think it should be fine. Great idea to bring some familiar toys and perches. As long as the bar spacing isn't one inch, but I would think just to sleep in would be okay anyway.

What kind of birds does your mom have? Have a good time there :)

I think it's a great idea for Kiwi to go with you! And like Julie said, as long as the bar spacing is okay and she has some familiar things, she should do fine:) And you will enjoy yourself more having her with you so you aren't worried about her at home.
Have a great trip!

Thank you!!! The spacing is the same as her cage. My brother cockatiel's use to use it before they got an upgrade. :yellow1::grey::grey:

GREAT idea!!

I wish more people thought about their bird like that, My kids and I are getting a baby Green Wing Macaw this year and part of the family decision was agreeing that if we can't take the bird with us we just don't go :)

And since she is with you all day when you are home, You will enjoy her being with you too!
Besides toys make sure you have her favorite food !!

Oh one last thought, make sure there are no "new" or sick birds at your moms house!!

Hope you have a blast!!

Joe, thanks! I love her. Lol she's like my baby. She is literally with me the whole time I'm home. He he he if I go upstairs or into a other room she starts to "yell" for me. It's almost like she saying "hey you forgot about me. Come back." :rainbow1:

I have packed her favorite food and a bunch of treats. :D

My parents have not gone any new birds and I'm going to keep Kiwi is a separate room the whole weekend just to be safe.
