So I just got a parakeet yesterday and I am wondering if this is normal. she has been just sitting in her cage and not really moving. I know she is probably scared of the new cage and place, but its scaring me because i dont know if she has ate or even drank water. Is there anything I can do? Thanks you guys :blue2:

Don't worry it is perfectly normal. They wont eat or drink while you are watching for the first few days. She will take a while to become less scared of you so make sure you give her her space.

Yay! I just saw her eat some millet! Woooo Never thought I would be excited to see a bird eat jajaja. :blue2: :D

That's great to hear!!!! If your really worried about him not eating much, you could give him some spray millet, they tend to go after that pretty good. Hungry birds will usually eat regardless of new cage but an already well fed bird may skip during the first day, but usually sneaks over to the food dish when your not watching. When I rescued Goth & Glam from outside during winter, they were starving to death and the moment they see food, they wouldn't stop eating. They ate constantly for about a week....Now they just eat when they feel like it...

Everytime I get a new bird I've always filled the food and water cups but also I put a small dish or container onthe floor of the cage one with food and one with water. I use both sets untill I see him eating and drinking from the food dishes then I remove the extra set on the floor of the cage . better to be safe than sorry. Alison and sweetie pie. :D

Is it bad if I put parakeets singing from youtube for her to hear?

No its not bad but it can make her check to see if theres another parakeet around...

Yeah I found a vid and she gets all crazy trying to find where the bird is.
