Green Cheek Conure- Mango, Cockatiel- Tango
I just got the cockatiel from a friend that I had written in a post about earlier. Anyway, the bird is a friendly bird but is obsessed with a mirror in the cage. He is only aggressive when the mirror is around. With out it he will step up, eat from my hand, etc. Is it ok if I take the mirror away so he will bond with me instead of it? I dont know if this will make him stressed out or lonely.

Also, when I had him out around mango they didnt even acknowledge each other. Is this normal?

All help is appreciated and thanks for reading

remove the mirror and don't put it back. He doesn't need it anyways. it only promotes territorial issues.
some people ad mirrors to their birds cages when they are the only bird.
but this is not the case here.
He'll acknowledge your other bird when he is ready, give him some time to settle in, in general it can take up to 2 months to really settle into a routine.

When we first got our bird, the breeder said no mirrors!!! They will bond to their reflection.

Thanks. I took the mirror out and he seems to be ok.

Good thing you took the mirror out , behavioral issues occur . Don't worry about him acknowleding the other bird , he'll warm up to him when he's ready .

I think they have warmed up. While I was out my son said the conure had opened the door and climbed in the cocktails cage and they were pecking and screeching at each other. I moved the cages far apart and now I am worried this will become a permanent thing. Will it?
