had lola bird about 3 weeks now and we're getting on great :) would like to start some training to help stimulate her mind rather than just chilling lol. my problem is i bought her from the breeder as weaned and long story short... she isn't. so im feeding her formula and there lies my problem. she doesn't really eat any "treat" type food. she absolutely loves banana but this is as much as a problem, as she will fly to me the second i start to peel it?? lol

any advice would be great

thanks

What's your rush?!

If the bird isn't even weaned yet, it's too soon. This should be bonding time.

there isn't any rush as such im happy holding her playing with her and just generally hanging out watching tele, i just thought it would be better for her to do something more active and stimulating. that's fine though just making sure im on the right road

thanks for the reply

prepare the banana before you get her out. intorduce a clicker training now, which will be effective later for trick training. use small bite size pieces of banana for treats.

teaching her to stay on her stand while you walk away is another great thing to start teaching early on.

I like the idea of teaching a bird to be a bird, not my cuddle buddy. Sure by baby enjoys cuddling, however i don't want him so attached to me, he NEEDS to be on me to be happy, or is depending on our interaction for his total happiness. If was to fall over dead, he would end up devistated, but him being a bird first, if i fall over dead- someone can walk into his life and pick up where I have left off and still care for him.

Serge, I think you may find this video interesting. I know I did!
