So I am in a extremely bad situation right now. I have a 4 year old DYH amazon parrot. I have recently moved from the east coast all the way to the west coast and left my parrot in my uncle's care. We recently had an extremely big conflict with my uncle, long story short he back-stabbed the entire family and therefore we have lost all contact with him as of now. Right now my grandparents are taking care of him but they do not speak english so I am unsure of whether they can drive my parrot to an avian facility. They are also beginning to move over to the west coast soon because of the conflict. This is basically a worst case scenario and I am extremely guilty for this and need help ASAP! Thank you.

What specific help do you want?
Where on the East Coast is the bird?

Do you need help with fostering or transport? Which language do your grandparents speak?

Basically I think the best option is to give my parrot away to someone that can take care of it properly. I don't know if my grandparents would be able to take my parrot since they don't have a car big enough for his cage atm and I highly doubt they would be able to get him into a carrier cage if I got them one since he would just run/fly away or bite at them since he likes me and my uncle most. So I'd guess I need help with transport+fostering and my grandparents speak Chinese. We are located on the east coast.

I have a friend who is looking for a DYH Amazon! I know she'd love to help and she's great with difficult birds. Could you please be more specific about where the bird is? The East Coast is a thousand miles long!

Oh I'm sorry I forgot to add that, we are located in Philadelphia.

Oh, that's not too far at all - she is in Maryland.
How can she get in touch with you? I don't think you can get private messages on the forum yet since you are new here. Maybe you can PM a moderator and they can forward it to me.
Also, neither my friend nor I speak Chinese, so we'd have to figure out how to communicate with your Grandparents if everyone agrees on a plan.

Would exchanging emails be fine? If not I'll try to pm a moderator right after this. Also, the parrot is a really nice parrot, it's just that I don't think I was able to care for him as well as I thought. The only problem is getting him out of the cage at first since no one else knows him as well. Anyways I have to go now so I'll contact you once I get back.

They don't like us to put our emails on the main forum. I'm fine sending mine to a moderator and she can send it to you.
My friend's name is Kim, so she may contact you directly.
: )

Hi Parrot123, yes any of the mods you see (with purple names) can forward your email address to Sonja. Good luck :)

Hi I'm a friend of Sonjas and would be very interested in helping with you DYH. I will give a mod my email to forward you.

I am a couple hours west of Philadelphia, if anyone needs help with making this rehome possible. Best of luck to all & so sorry you can't take your parrot with you.

Kim
