We have just aquired a blue crown conure into or family..so I want to start of we have had home for about weeks ..things I know from where we got him is he was from two other people before..so I know and read up on it has a lot to do with trust...
I am doing everything I can to make him feel comfortable. He has about 6-8 hours a day of out of cage time. He will take food from our hands but will not let anyone touch him or pick him up .and final he is a sqwaker he is in a room with us all the time but when we leave he freaks out like he don't want us to leave but he won't let any of us get close to him.. Any advise will help thanks..:green::57:

Do I just need to keep doing what I am doing and give him more time?

Yes, this will take time! As for the squawking, make sure you don't inadvertently reward it! She just wants to make sure he knows where you're at, you could always try teaching him a different contract call, as I did with JoJo. What works for me was I always used kisses as a return contact call and that's what he uses now also!

Understand a parrot now in his third home will be very cautious and need time to feel comfortable. Parrots are not domesticated animals in the sense of dogs, so be patient and reward each success!
