My husband bought me 2 baby IRNs for our one year anniversary, but only one is home as the other is not weaned yet. We are struggling to come up with a name, as all of our birds have Army names in some way, and we want the new one to match. Right now we have living with us...

RANGER - Dog (Black Mouth Cur) named after Army Rangers.

FLC - Green Cheeked Conure, pronounced "Flick" stands for Fighting Load Carrier or Frontal Load Carrier, a vest that has attachable pouches and is worn by soldiers.

Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty - Pionus Parrots, self explanatory.

Infantry Blue - IRN, we call her "Blue" and she is baby-blue like the color that signifies Infantry.

MRE - Budgie, we call her "Marie" named after Meals Ready to Eat

ARC - Budgie, we call him "Archie" named after the Army Reconnaissance Course

Tropic Lightning - Budgie, we call her "lightning," named after the 25th Infantry Division.

Molle - Budgie, named after the "Molle" (pronounced "Molly") ruck sack that soldiers carry.

Long Grey Linus - Budgie, we call him "Linus", named after the "Long Grey Line," which is the poetic way of saying every cadet who has ever attended the United States Military Academy.

Benning - Budgie, we call him "Ben," named after Fort Benning, GA, where we spent most of our first year of marriage.

So, any thoughts for a male turquoise IRN with an Army theme?

hi Silversage

What about Monty -General Bernard Montgomery that won the Battle of Al Alamein in World War II?

How about JAG - Judge Advocate General?
Or CID - Criminal Investigation Division?

Oh, JAG is a good one! or maybe Sarge....

Silversage, when are you moving to Hawaii? I am looking forward to hearing about how you transport all your animals there!

Oh, and congrats on your new baby IRNs!!!!! can't wait to see pics!

How about Chinook after the The Boeing CH-47 Chinook American twin-engine, tandem rotor heavy-lift helicopter.

Thanks guys! When my husband gets home tonight we will talk them over. I am also thinking of "Scout" since my husband is currently assigned to a Cavalry unit and they are, well, scouts.

I just got to Hawaii! That's why I have been so quiet :) Things have been INSANE here, and I basically spend any free time with Blue, as she is still a bit shy and needs tons of one on one attention, while the other birds are better at sharing. I will write how it went soon! Basically everything went a little bit wrong, but we caught each thing in time before a major disaster could occur and we all arrived safe, sound, and super relieved to have that behind us!

So glad it ended well with your trip to Hawaii!
Can't wait to see pictures!
Scout is a great name!

I like Scout too, very cute! OMG Silversage, so glad you are all moved over! Hubby and I are moving there in 2 years, and I was stressing about how to take 2 little GCCs with us. But seeing how you got all those animals over, my situation should be a little easier! Can't wait to hear all the details, and get some tips from you. Hope you are all settling in nicely!

Agapornis, I will be writing an article on the details soon and posting it on my web page. I won't be able to post a link here because my website sells services and that is against the rules to post, but I can private message you a link to the article when it is up :) It is a details game - as long as you make sure you know and follow every requirement, it is going to be fine. What will bring you to Hawaii, and what Island will you be on?
