Punku - Green Cheeked Conure
Good morning friends,

So I didn't realize how taboo it was to buy a parrot that hasn't been weaned. The exotic bird store we bought our GCC, Punku, from made it sound like it was normal to hand feed your baby. :( Once I got here and read through some posts, I realized how wrong I was.

We bought Punku on March 26th and the lady at the store said he was born the second week in February. My boyfriend, Jonny, and I decided to say his birthday is February 14th because that also happens to be our anniversary.

When we brought him home, we were told he eats some pellets but to hand feed him 3x a day, 2-3 small syringes full. We are now down to 2 feedings, morning and night.

My question is, when should we completely cut out the formula? He does eat fresh fruit, pellets, and seeds. And would you suggest cutting out the fist feeding or the last first? Or cut them both completely? If any of you have suggested meal plans for GCCs, I'm all ears!!

I feel like such a novice and don't want to mess up our little guy. :/

Thanks for any and all help!
