One Blue Fronted Amazon Parrot
My 35 year old male Blue Fronted Amazon Parrot suddenly about 3 weeks ago
began to make noises when he breathed. I took him to an animal hospital
where they gave him two antibiotic and anti inflammatory shots.
The hospital took diagnostic tests. So far, I have not received the results.
The parrot is eating, pooping and drinking. He is active. He flips on his perch.
He has a very good appetite.
However, he opens his beak wide to breath and makes various sounds.
Is it possible that the respiratory infection will go away by itself?

My Bingo YNA has had a problem that sounds very similar to your BFA.
Every winter he has that open beak breathing.
for the last 4 years.
Multiple antibiotics and lots of $ for testing with no clear answer.
If it is indeed an infection it won't go away by itself, it must be treated.
I wish you the best of luck.
feathered Huggs and prayers 🙏

Please seek-out an Avian Vet!

I am not saying that you have not received proper care only that if at all possible, using an Avian Vet will help in the next steps as it is not uncommon for Parrots to need further medication to fully eliminate this virus.

Those who provided the first medication likely told you that if your parrot was not feeling well, to return for further evaluation and possible more medication.
