So I've read quite a few times about parrots getting all cuddly and snuggling up by peoples necks. Chewie does this and its really cute she'll sit there doing kissy noise looking all comfy... but then she starts nibbling my neck and its pretty uncomfortable! I don't think she's being aggressive, its not a bite, more like a little pinch. I wonder if she's trying to preen me, but she'll do it over and over. Ow she's doing it now :/

Any ideas on how I can stop this? theres such a wealth of birdy behavioural knowledge on here!

Thanks for reading and for any tips you can come up with! :D

My bird does it too! He does it 2 ways. One is preening, those are tinier pinches. Two is from over excitement. These are harder, chunkier pinches.

If its a preening nip, i leave him be. If it gets too hard, I just divert his nips to a toy or I move my neck away and say 'No.' I'm not too firm if he bites this way because its not out if aggression. If he does not stop after many attempts, I just put him on his cage for time out.

Don't over react much so as not to encourage him. Good luck! :)

Aww thank you! :) I'm glad she's not the only one! Here is some pictures of her little self, I'm feeling the love at the moment lol!

Adorable pics!

My Cody also nibbles on my neck and shoulders. It just a matter of seeing anything out of order, a little bump, a tiny mole, a stray hair. Yesterday I remember commenting to Cody that he was cleaning every pore on my face. :)

Awww so she's trying to make me beautiful?! lol :) bless her, maybe I can forgive that!

Your bird is sooo cute! Now is that blue mutation? I will try my best to squeeze a another bird in my flock come next year. I have narrowed it down to a pine apple mutation or blue mutation of the greencheek species. They are all so beautiful and it makes the decision of picking one over the other very difficult. As far as the nipping goes just put the conure down on the playgym or it's cage. Make boundaries now so it will not be confused in the future. If any of birds does this then I just get them off my shoulder and firmly tell them no stop it. Hope that helps you, peace.

I like his gourmet fruit dish! I get carried away plating Boomer's dinner sometimes too haha. What is the leafy thing?

Also, I like your mousepad lol!

I love his little dish! That's so cool. :D
As other people have said, if she's not being aggressive then it's not a huge worry, she's just showing you some love and getting a bit over excited. Just move away or get her to step up if it gets a bit much.
