Nebraska
I will not reply again on this thread. I just want everyone to know that I just had a very bad experience with the owner of the Nebraska Parrot Rescue, so I wll not recommend them. This is a warning not to work with them.

Why are you so against the Nebraska Parrot Rescue. We have only had good things happen with them. I was told that they were very strick when it comes to adopting birds. No smokeres (which we are not) and No Breeders (which again we are not) I am guessing you mighthave been on one of those two lists.
My family and I have adopted 3 birds from them over the last 4 years and have always found Roberta and SammiJo very nice and helpful when we were having problems with one of our other birds. We would have rehomed Buddy if it wasn't for them counseling us on what to do. Life time supports of the Nebraska Parrot Rescue!! Sincerely Marie R!!

It's always recommend that if you are giving a negative review of a product or service that you explain in detail what events took place that compelled you to make the negative statement.

The reason I did not go into detail is because I believe our situation in the adoption process was a one time deal, I hope anyway. We were treated VERY,. rudely. I'm still upset with them, but I will say I was very angry at the time of writing this thread, now that it's over, I will recommend them. They do care and love their birds, but for other reasons, we will never adopt from them.

Roberta was my first taste of a parrot rescue and my first impression was she was rude but I understand that she's busy. If you want an interesting time, HISS, you should head to the "rescue" in Fremont. He's more of a breeder but does have birds he adopts out. Micheal played middle man for me to get my Red Factor Sun Conure. Neither place is up to my standard of care but they only can do so much. Now if I ever win the lottery, I'll be building my own rescue :p I'll just sleep in a pile of feathers and pellets when I can. lol

"I'll just sleep in a pile of feathers and pellets when I can" lol !!!

Being a business owner, you just can't be rude, for any... reason. I've always trusted my instincts with owners and customers.

I don't recall Mikes business name and contact information, do you ?

As a proud father of our Cockatoo we named "Shelby", here's our Christmas card for 2012. We adopted her from Anna and her husband, owners of Macaw & Cockatoo Rescue of New Mexico. I researched a lot of rescues and found that it's the best I've seen. Very nice couple, clean and great facility. The care & love for their birds is wonderful !

I have tried contacting them many times because I am interested in adopting and I havnt gotten one response.... It's very frustrating

Anna is amazing! I was almost tempted to get one of the conures she had under her care! She truly is amazing! May not agree with everything she does, but you can tell how much she truly cares and loves each individual bird, and rather than just adopting to "any" home, she tries and makes sure that the birds go to the *right* home!

I know of a few owners who have had to place their birds under her care, either as a temporary basis or to rehome them! Amazing how she's so very non-judgemental and understanding of various situations!

Never adopted through a rescue, but I would definitely recommend Anna as one place to adopt from!

KalJ- Look into this rescue, if you don't mind a fairly long drive in Iowa. The owner is a great guy and I believe, he got the owner of the Omaha rescue started. It's of course up to you if you want to mention Roberta's name or not.

I called him first and he suggested that since it is a little far to drive, check out what she has first, then get back to him if she did not have what we were looking for. Real nice of him. His place is very well done and clean. He has a lot of money wrapped into his facility. I believe,.... he's a college professor and gets aid from the college or other teachers.

Website- rescue

I know of others around here, so I'll check my favorite's file and get back to you.

MinicaMc- I'm so happy for Anna that their constructing a new building for the birds. Check it out on her Face book page.

I've been loosely following her FB page! I've also read threads by her on some of the forums that she's frequented! I don't think I could ever do what she does, she has such a strong and caring heart!

Can't wait to see the finished building!

Hum,...I could only find one and that website is extremely boring. lol
When you have time, please post the websites.

I know there's a Grey breeder in Lincoln. I'll try and find his site or number.

Yeah I've got his contact info. Good luck getting ahold of him as he's very scatterbrained and usually busy with the birds. When I went to visit to meet his flock the first time, he forgot about my best friend and I with two of his baby GCC. We played with them for 45 minutes until I went looking for him. Sadly, it was too late for my best friend. Her GCC stole her heart and I'm currently listening to her beak grind as she's falling asleep :)

I'm sorry but what good does this do for me? Why even post at all if your not going to explain? I'm not so helpless intellectually that I need people making decisions for me without giving explanation.

Warnings are generally made to inform others of a bad experience, but it's up to the public to decide upon themselves, if they choose to do business with them.

"I'm not so helpless intellectually that I need people making decisions for me without giving explanation"

Where did I, make a decision for you ?

My intent is to warn you about their business practice, not,....
to make decisions for you. If you're so intellectually pronounced, it should be a breeze for you to do more research with this organization, then you may not feel so helpless to ask such questions and decide for yourself.

Are you thinking about adopting from them and therefore doing research, or are you just one of these thread seeker's, wanting to criticize others for your own enjoyment ?

If you want, call me for further details.

Happy reading,.... and feel free to make your own decision without me.
