I'm adopting a pair of Eclectus, the female is named Phoenix, the male is named Squacky, and e "a" sounds like the a in "taxi."

I do not like this name. At all. I would like to change it to something that sounds similar enough that he doesn't have a hard time with the change, though I am not sure he knows his name or not. Any suggestions? I'm hitting. A wall here.

Shame it's the male, seeing as Patty sounds similar. Who names a bird that anyways?

Congrats on your new additions BTW:) Are they a breeding pair or just friends (or maybe enemies:eek:)?

Call him Squa?
acky?
quacky?
Kaki?

Spanky is close. Mackey, hackey, tacky, wacky, smacky, zacky, quacky, jacky, what a terrible name to match up to. Out of that brainstorm zacky and jacky, maybe macky. Good luck!

This threads cracking me up [he he ]

Actually I like Jacky :)

Husband said Scratchy lol!

Maybe Scotty?

If you say the both fast enough going back and forth, it sounds close enough LOL

Oh boy  I have to agree here. That is a terrible name. Personally, I don't think it even has to rhyme. He will eventually get used to a new name whatever it may be, and the intelligent creature will come to realize that is his new name :).

Phoenix is one of my favorite bird names. Fitting for a red bird especially, as a phoenix is said to be red and gold?

Are these breeders or pets? Do you know what subspecies?

We changed a couple of our birds names, and used their old name as the end part of their new name for a couple weeks. Then we just dropped the old part.
Dexter's former name was Rollie, so we called him Dexterrollie at first, and he picked right up on the Dexter part. I still call him that sometimes, it kinda became his middlle name..
Slater had a curse word for his name so we just changed it without using his old name and that worked fine too:) Thankfully Slater now says "Slater" instead of his previous name.

I like the name jacky too.... unless birds associate there name with the first syllable then, sacky?? No that won't work either. sorry.

Jacky would be a nice name. Nikki too, although that is usually a girl's name. If you're up for a challenge then you can just change his whole name.

My bird went from being Steve-o to Orion... I don't think he cares. lol
