RIP Constantine: Jenday Conure
I'm super finicky about names and have decided after trying Helios out on the Sun conure I want, that it doesn't fit. He's far too cuddly and playful to be a Greek God. So I went looking for different names. I don't want the standard Apollo, Ra, Mango, or Kiwi; I want something interesting. Here are a few I've picked out that seem to fit.

Zoran
Kirit
Sol
Solei

I'm rather partial to Solei (pronounced Soul-Lay) but than again Zoran is a good one too as I am a huge Legend of Zelda fan and Zoran is the male version of Zora. So maybe if the bird is male it will be Zoran and if female, Solei? Thoughts, advice, and your own name suggestions please. Thanks!

Love Solei !

I too am a huge zelda fan. I vote for Zoran for a male, Zora for a female.

I can't do Zora. My manager's dog's name is Zora and I'd think of her every time I'd talk to the bird and I don't want that. Could always call her Zelda, Impa, or Ruto xD But then I'd have to get a Lutino Kakariki and name it Sheik. Then a green Quaker and name it Link and then a female Ekkie and call her Epona or Malon...

I'd end up with the whole cast of LOZ:OoT if given half a chance :p

Do you have the new zelda game? How about the name Fi?

Solei is very pretty, but perhaps hard for the bird to pronounce? Rowdy can say "s", but my BCC couldn't. And the BCC was the better, clearer talker. Her version of "kiss" was "ki"

If it doesn't matter to you if the bird can say it's name, chose whatever sounds nice to you.

At this point I've named so many critters I have a hard time coming up with ones I like. I actually asked the people on my motorcycle forum to help me name the cat.

And I probably should have changed Pete's name because I swear he didn't know it. But, I was thinking, 28 years old, he must know it, and I can't change it now. I'm not sure because he wasn't responding to it, so I think I had a window of opportunity to change it to something I like, but now he is responding to Petey, which is what I usually call him.

When are you getting the new Sun? I also like Solei.

I don't have it but I bought it for my best friend for her birthday and she hasn't finished it yet.

I'm not sure when I'll be getting the Sun. I'm thinking sometime this week if she had a clean bill of health. When I run out to get boxes, I'll stop at work to see about her.

This might sound weird, but ask him what name he wants. Just outright ask him, and whatever he says, whatever first somes to your mind, Accept it! Any respectful owner of an animal will try communication, this is a great first step, that is if you havent already named him. I met our new rescued rat today, and I asked him. "What do you want to be called?" And in my mind, just outright I heard 'King'. So now I call him that or Kingsly, and it really fits him, cause our other rat, who we call Filly, is the Princess, so he took to treating her very respectfully. Just a silly story and thought, but try it out :)

I have done that. I have made a list of names and read them to the animal. And the one it showed a response to is the name it got, lol!

Solei definitely for a girl, it sounds so feminine.

Sure the bird will be able to pronounce it, just break it up the way you did in the above post........
There are many words I thought Mishka would never say........ and he managed them beautifully, such as disgusting and Sterretjie and The Kruger Park.

Good luck with a name

I don't care if she can say the name or not though I'm sure she will be able to say what ever I name him. She's only five months old and can say step up, good girl, and I love you. Con use to be good at talking too until she picked up the word step up. Now its all she says xD I want to wait to name her after I get the DNA test back. I don't want to end up with another bird with the wrong gender name but I need to call her something other than Sweet Pea. I really don't like the name.

Before I got Rio's dna test back he was just "birdie, good bird, etc" for a few days until I knew if I was going with my boy name or my girl name. River we decided would be good for a boy or girl, so we called him that before the results came back.

Went to go get the bird today and was told I have to wait 7 days because she's sick and the vet has to ok her. Why do I have a feeling that they're going to jerk me around until my last day and I'm not going to get this bird? Her urine was very red but all they're concerned about is getting her weight up. Her tail is a mess and she's dying for some interaction. GRRRR!!! I'm so freaking angry!

Did they tell you what's wrong with the bird by any chance? Red urine doesn't sound good.

No and I doubt the vet would know anyway. I have a feeling that Sweet Pea is going to die in that store and there is nothing I can do to stop it. I'll wait the 7 days and if I still can't buy her, I will talk to the vet and the store manager myself to get something done. If she is going to die, the least I can do is make sure she's with someone that loves her and can hold her until the end.

The way it is going for me, I must be bad luck for Sun conures. The first one I want dies and now Sweet Pea is sick too.

Oh, honey, it has nothing to do with you. They unfortunately live in a pet store with a bunch of people who don't know really how to take care of birds. And they aren't getting the best vet care when they need it. You really have gone out of your way to try to help them.

It might be a good idea to call another vet and run her symptoms past that vet and get another opinion. The red pee scares me into thinking she has kidney disease, or even cancer. I'm hoping it just means an infection and that she will recover fully and join you and Con in a good home. Do they have her on any medications?

Would your manager let her come to your home for now to be taken care of and given her meds? Then at least no other employees could do anything else dumb to her like letting her put her beak in their mouth.

Thanks Roxy, it just seems to follow me though lol

I never thought to call another vet. I'll have to try that tomorrow after I get off work. The store would put her up for adoption if it was a disease that wasn't curable. She's supposedly on some medication now but they wouldn't show it to me when I went earlier. There is no way they'd let me foster her until she's better because no one likes me there anymore and I'm leaving in 9 days. I'll be going to the manager of the store about this next that is for sure.

My grandma is as angry about this as I am but is warning me against getting her unless she's free and I agree. I don't want to pay $600 for a bird that may not live to see her 1st hatchday. I'd rather adopt her. I'm going to go out now and look at some other birds. Sweet Pea's chance of coming home with me seems non-existant right now but I won't forget about her or stop fighting for her even if I get a different bird. I can always have 3 :p
