Well, the other day my dad bought me a 7 year old amazon, and the breeder said he's a yellow crowned amazon, but by the looks of it, I think he's a panama.what do you think? Oh and do you guys find anything wrong with his feathers? Thanks

Welcome to the forum I can tell you if its a YC, if you post a pic!!

Here is how to post pics...


When you are creating your post, go into attachments, click on upload from Computer, then browse.. click on the pic you want to show, then click on upload.... or if you have photobucket just hover mouse over the image then left click on IMG and it will say copied, then just paste into your message box, go onto preview post and it will show if it has gone in properly

He is a good looking fella but his beak looks overgrown to me. Might need to see an avian vet for that. Good luck with your new addition

Good lucking Amazon! Congrats to your new baby. Could you tell us how big he is? A Panama Amazon is definitely smaller than a YC. And I second Adina's notion about the beak being overgrown.

Looks like a yellow crown zon to me but could be a Panama he's a a good looking chap but his beak needs abit of a trim.

I say it's a panama amazon. There are some at the bird store, and your's and their's look alike. =)

The lighting in your photos make it difficult to tell, but it doesn't look like his beak and feet are dark enough to be a yellow crowned or panama. Those species have very dark beaks/feet for the most part. To me, he looks like a younger double yellow head, who would have more cream or pinkish feet and beak. Whatever he is, he's a very handsome little guy. I do agree with other posters that he may need a beak trimming, though.
