Our new addition to the family, a 2.5 year old male senegal, is looking for a new name... He's currently called Billy, but we're not too keen on that and he's not responsive to it and hasn't learned to say it, so we figure we're quite safe changing it.

I'm afraid I don't have any pictures to help your creative processes at the moment, I didn't really want to flash at him until he's feeling a little more secure (mind out of the gutter, you, I do of course mean CAMERA flash! ;))

Any suggestions? (Quick, before my partner settles on "Steven Senegal"!)

How about something like Kabuki, Midori, Osiris, Echo, Icarus, Tico, or O'Toole?

There is always Zazu, Levi, Piper, Chili pepper, Stormy, Mango. It's kinda hard without knowing his personality. Let us know what you decide. It's always fun coming up with a name.

Thought of a couple more - Buzz, Buster, Bear, Taco. I'm sure you will get some more from other members too.

Hummm... Skye, Loki, Stitch, Rio, Rico, Niko, Widget, Gryphon, Tango, Bongo, Crash, Clipper... 'bout all I can come up with at the moment. I also quite like Icarus, as was previously suggested.

It's not specific, but I would suggest something that's one to two syllables and distinct sounding. Birds are more likely to repeat their names that way, and it's so cute when they finally learn it! :)

Ooh, good ideas.. I do love the name Loki, but the boyfriend isn't so keen.. *sigh*. It will NOT be Steven! =P

I sort of like Elijah but I think that might be hard for him to learn to say..

We cleaned his cage today, which had me almost in tears. I wiped his water dish out with a piece of tissue and it came out completely brown! Got through two rolls of kitchen paper wiping the bars. I'm starting to hate this woman we got him from... I didn't want to distress him too much yesterday since we just brought him home but now I sort of wish I had, I didn't realise he was living in such filth...

BUT I did manage to snap a few photos once we were done before we put him back in his corner. ;)

Yesss... *sigh* he's in a round cage. It's only about a foot across and 2.5 feet high. It's horrible, and I can't wait for his new cage to come. I rearranged things in there so at least he can move around now and sit in his favourite perch without having to crouch under another one, but it's sad seeing him in there.

He's explored all the new toys I put in there already and he seems very curious about what we're doing all the time. He also seems quite confident, despite the huge changes. When we let him out of the cage when we were cleaning it he didn't waste any time having a look around the room and he wasn't at all hesitant stepping up onto a stick for us to get him home.

I know there's still a long road ahead of us but it makes me happy to think that we're already making positive steps. =)

You are making such a difference in his life!!! It will be a very rewarding experience for you!! This little fella is about to change your life as well!! Have fun with him! I am so glad he got a good home! Thanks for posting pictures of him. He is adorable!

I may be late to the party but my boy's name is Bogart people seem to like it. Don't hate the woman who did the right thing and found you for this bird parront, because of her you now have a love in your life without equal. I bought my form a bird fair in NC they used wielders gloves to get him out of the cage(talk about stress) and a day later I realized he was sick (1100 $ in vet bills) but that was 7 yrs ago now he is one healthy happy bird who loves his daddy so much he won't speak to other ppl if daddy is availlable because daddy understands clicks and whistles (or so he thinks) therefore many other ppl have heard him speak but never me. I love my ray of sunshine and so will you love yours. Oh yeah be sure to try citrus for your bird you will be amazed at the brightness in feather color it will bring out.

I think you should call him Hero....after 'You'! Your definitely my hero for taking him in and saving him...New life! .....I feel so bad that I couldn't do a rehome or rescue but it's too risky with a very active 4 1/2 yr old who because he is the baby of 2 very much older brothers is attached to my hip (it's better though I much rather he sing abc's then rap songs)! When I get older and the kiddos are on their own I will rescue an older bird....especially one that bites - that way the grandchildren have to sleep at their other grandmothers house and I can only go over for short visits!!! Woohoo I have a game plan! LOL sorry, I'm on a roll today. Congrats! Seriously love that you took him in! He's very lucky...Ohhh Schucks...perfect name ...how about Lucky???.

have you tried beak rubs? just the thumb and forefinger hold the beak lightly and start to rub in small circles Bogart closes his eyes and just leans into your hand as if in Bliss.
