When cutting birds nails, it is always a good idea to have a bowl of flour handy. Yesterday while cutting our Linnies nails, which we have to do on a regular basis, he moved his foot suddenly and more of the nail was cut off then should have been, it started to bleed, thats when the bowl of flour comes in handy. I just put a little flour on the nail and it stops the bleeding. I NEVER cut their nails without my trusty flour nearby and have not had to use it before apart from yesterday. This really does work, and today they are both doing well.

*OBVIOUSLY IF IT BLEEDS A LOT THEN GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR AVIAN VET*

thanks for the reminder I have taught my dog to give me her paw when i saw paw and then i file her nails :)

Yeah both my dogs will give me a paw and sit really still while I'm doing their nails, but the little Linnies just don't keep still for a second. He's fine today, except whenever I go into the cage then its head down, and foot up, nothing wrong with putting the foot up, only he tries to do it while he's walking.
