my ysgcc has no foot band and they said he doesnt

Not have birth certificate can I even breed him without the those things? What should I do now, they said. They said they he was bought be from someone who walk in. So that hurt him and I just dont know what to do, advise?please.

Breeding requires a vast amount of knowledge and experience, and is a very sensitive subject around here.

I don't mean to hurt your feelings, but I am going to be blunt. If you don't know about leg bands, you don't know enough to even consider breeding.

As far as leg bands go -- when a bird is bred, a closed leg band (one with no breaks) is slid over his foot when he is young (and then he grows into it so it is too small to take off later) to show that he was bred.

In countries where it is still legal to catch birds in the wild (or where birds are being monitored for ecological reasons) birds can have an open leg band put on (one that has to be squeezed shut around the leg).

Just because a bird doesn't have a leg band doesn't mean it was illegally acquired. Owners do choose to have their birds leg bands cut off for safety reasons sometimes, and occasionally leg bands will fall off before the bird has a chance to fully grow into it and if no one notices and puts it back on..

But please, please do not breed your bird. Breeding is something best left to people with great knowledge of genetics and health. People who have extensive experience already in hand-feeding in case anything should go wrong.

Just to clarify, there are different dog breeds, but in birds they're referred to as 'different species'.

I have bred teils untill I have to finally get rid of the mommy cause I couldnt keep up with all the clutches, as soon as the babies could be kicked out of the nest the next eggs were already laying in their nest so a their was teils everyware so I count have done to bad but all of them lived but I had little information I figured that was what I'm here for to meet new people and hopefully I can learn from all of you to and maybe I could eventually be able to give help to the new ones to

No one wants to discourage you from learning, just from needlessly breeding birds without any purpose. There are countless numbers of birds who already are in need of homes. Why do you want to breed more?

Instead of having a possible repeat of your tiel situation, how about working hard at making this little guy a great companion and pet instead of breeding him? And you could learn a lot of great pointers on how to tame him, teach him tricks, socialize him ext...

No I guess I just didnt think about it. There is a lady looking to rehome a parrot but wants a friend cause she's wants it to go to a good home for marty. And she lives in Kentucky which we are close to and but she wouldn't offer him to me probably anyway cause I asked what her idea of a good home would be. I'll just keep looking in th rehome form I am looking for a larger parrot to keep . Skitz needs a friend anyway, look thank you much for the breeding

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. It has been said already, if you don't already know the answer to this you have no business breeding because you clearly have not done enough research. Again, I am not trying to be mean, but I won't lie to preserve your feelings. Having bred tiels does not mean you know enough to breed. Cockatiels practically breed themselves, I know from experience. Do you know the pros and cons of hand feeding? Do you know the physical and psychological implications of hand feeding? Of pulling eggs? Are you familiar with the mental development of a young bird and the implications of wing clipping? Do you understand the life long consequences of not understanding these things? What about early socialization with other birds, humans, life situations, etc? Do you know how to crop tube a bird to save his life? Do you have the funds on hand to take a bird to the vet and pay many times his "worth" to save him, or a whole clutch of birds? Clearly you do not understand how to stop birds from breeding, or you would not have had to get rid of your female. Also, do you know what kind of a strain it puts on a hen to be bred constantly and how it will most likely lead her to an early grave? Do you know the special nutritional requirements a feeding pair has?

Do not breed your bird.

Now, all that said, I am not saying you should not love your bird. I was once very like you, and I wish someone had told me the things I just told you. I bred birds when I had no business doing so, and birds suffered for it. There is so much more to breeding than keeping the babies alive and keeping them tame, so so so much! You can learn these things but it takes a lot of time researching before you are ready to try to get some experience, trust me. For now, take your little guy and learn all the things you will need to know so you can teach people if you ever do start breeding again. Learn how to harness train him, recall train him, potty train him, teach him to step up on command and go back to his cage on command, etc. learn how to feed him a healthy diet and how to do all the things a breeder needs to be an EXPERT in before they have the right to breed, stay here on this forum and learn, we love to teach and learn together. Feel free to message me personally, I would love to help guide you in the right directions. I am not saying you should never breed, I am saying you are not ready yet

have any luck? Do you have a pic of your conure? All I found was they dont know about a birth certificate which mine is a ysgcc, if you find out anything let me know, I'll help if I can
