Well I was going to get more pictures to put in the rescue thread for adoptions but it was a very crazy babysitting of the rescue this time. I was there from Wednesday till today...my feet hurt from all the running around! I thought I would have some help with the shelter Saturday but except for Chris I didn't have anyone....so I had to do cages in the house, feed all the birds and do water in the house...and get the cages setup for the new birds that Jeanne and John were picking up (Chris helped with the new cages)... I'm still not sure how Jeanne does all this all the time!

I did decide to play with a bunch of macaws that are in the house Friday and Saturday...taking half of them out Saturday was the only way to get them to shut it to a degree... so here is the only bird picture I took the whole time. There are 6 macaws in the picture. 2 blue and golds, Piaui the hyacinth, a scarlet, a harlequin and a blue throat. These are all Jeanne and Johns personal birds expect for the harlequin. I also had out their personal harlequin and green wing at one point but wasn't sure who got along with who so had to keep them pretty separate so not enough room for everyone at one time.

The new birds Jeanne and John brought back are another blue and gold, a severe, a cherry headed conure, 3 greys, and 2 green cheeks.

Wow, that's a lot of work for sure. Then there's all your birds at home too!
Do they ever have so many at one time that they have to turn anyone away?

There is a wait list and we do refer people to other shelters sometimes. She is getting pretty full and if there isn't some adoptions I'm honestly not sure where she is putting the birds that just came in after they are done quarantine. I guess the greys could go in the cockatoo room but that is the only place with any real room right now that I can think of at the moment.

That looks like great fun! I volunteer to be locked in that room for a day!!

I know it must be a lot of work, but you get to spend time with so many amazing birds.

LOL ,all those cages looks like my house :) Do they have people donate to them ?curious how they run things . Tried to organize a fund raiser for my rescue but they wouldn't get back to me. I think I need a new rescue :)

Where is this rescue? I've been thinking about bringing in another addition and I would like to get a rescue. I am a bit jealous that you get to be around all of those gorgeous birds, sounds like you're getting your exercise, lol.

The rescue is located in NJ. It is amazing to be around all the different birds though Saturday all I was thinking about was I wish there were less right now...haha

Yes you can donate to A Helping Wing they have a link for donations on their home page:) Their website is ahelpingwing. org. The shelter doesn't do a lot of monetary fundraising. They do a lot of secret santa toy drives and things like that but not as much on the cash donation side.
