Loves to chew up everything wood, except her own toys. She gets fixated on something and won't let up. I wonder if she needs some kind of medication to calm her down. Love to bite me too if I pick up any number of things, like a bottle of water, brush, toothbrush, lots of things make her bite me. Help, what can I do for her? :orange:

Hi, thanks for reaching out. How old is your Sun Conure? Does she have a variety of different toys in cage and out? Lots of parrots LOVE wood and love to chew. Birds also bite for a number of reasons. It could be hormones acting up (depending on the age) or possibly your sun has chosen to take over your household! -- biting when you grab 'her' things, aka water bottle). Lots of sun conure owners here who will be along to give their advice. I had a Jenday Conure growing up and they are similar to Suns.

My advice to you is to go back to basics on training with your sun. No allowing her out of the cage without stepping up nicely. Biting gets a 'time-out' in a cage and moved to a quiet/dark room until she calms down, same goes with excessive screaming.

Did you ever train your bird with bite pressure training? Bite-pressure training is very important for young birds or any new bird when first arriving home. This is teaching a bird that biting is not permitted. There are many videos on youtube on how to accomplish this.
