Poor Tuzzi (our little dog) has not had a very good day. She had an accident on the bed and threw up a little. I think due to me trying to introduce them to healthier food and it was too rich for them. Poor baby was sitting on the floor, staring at the door and not looking at me when I woke up due to the smell. She felt so bad. Will was home before I was and her eye was all puffy. Looks like she got something in it, but we can't see to get it out. Luckily the puffiness has gone down. She seems alot more like herself after she's napped for a little bit. Probably because she's resting her eye and not irritating it. Hopefully a good night's sleep will be all she needs. I just feel bad because we're putting her in the bathroom where it's easier to clean up if she has another accident tonight. I put a pillow and her Lambchop in there to snuggle.

Aw, I hope she feels better soon :) You were only trying to be a good mom too! Like with us, some foods just don't agree. I'm sure that's why service dogs need a strict diet of the same thing every day? Predictable, so no accidents in a public place

Poor baby. Did you change the food slowly or was it an instant change? I am a RVT and we see a greater number of small dogs react to dietary discretions. Hopefully baby girl starts feeling better soon. If it continues I would discontinue the new food, and wait awhile before trying it again. Good luck.

Poor baby but at least she has a good mommy to take care of her. Yes switching dog food can upset their system. You just mix it in with the old dog food and over a period of time add more and more of the new.

I was doing it slowly. I guess not slow enough. She would get about half a cup of each food and Pasha would get about a cup.

Just got up this morning and checked on her. She seems so much more like her self. Her eye is back to normal and she's playing. She was super snuggly yesterday. More so for her (this dog loves to snuggle). Today is already better than yesterday started out!

Poor baby. My dog Pablo (RIP) used to have such a sensitive stomach and he threw up over anything different. He even had his own "puking towel" as I called it. He was trained to throw up on that towel, in case he did it in bed at night, then I could just wake up, peel that towel out of the bed and deal with it in the morning (still having a clean bed).

Oh wow. Poor guy. We just try and herd them to the kitchen or bathroom (whatever is closest), then I feel bad for them because they're already uncomfortable then confused at the way we're acting. Tuzzi threw up on the carpet once when we couldn't her to the kitchen and she sat there with this shy little grin on her face like, "I'm sorry, but I couldn't help it". They've never gotten in trouble for throwing up on the carpet since it's not like they can help it. And they don't get in trouble for their accidents anymore since it's very rare that they have one and only when there's no other option for them or like Tuzzi yesterday, they can't control it because they feel bad. So happy she's more like herself today!

Awww, poor girl:( I am so glad she is feeling better today. My chihuahua, Chaz, also does not tolerate new foods well and will throw it up. I was so thrilled when we finally found something he would eat and keep down.
I hope she continues to feel better:)

Update on our little Bug. So far no accidents (other than trying to potty train our roommates dog while he's overseas). I think it was the supplemental stuff I was giving them to help with their dry skin. It's been exceptionally bad this summer even though it's been a pretty wet summer. Pasha has always been fighting dry skin, but this summer was the first time it effected Tuzzi so I was trying different supplements to see if it would help. We tried this Shed-X stuff I found at Petco but it seems like that was too much for her so no more of that. Her eye was still bugging her a little yesterday but she wasn't trying to keep it closed and it wasn't swollen anymore. She was so much more like herself yesterday! Of course I worried about her all day at work, but I felt better that my husband was there to rush her to the vet if need be. She's usually a snuggler (We call her our little snuggle bug all the time since that's where she's happiest. She has to at least be touching you), but Monday she was snuggling a lot even for her. So happy my little Bug is feeling better.

So Glad to here it!! Is the dry skin worse in winter?

I lived in Colorado Springs, and I remember every day in the afternoon we would get a quick rain over Pikes Peak LOL

I really loved it there, everyone was so nice!!

Tuzzi has only had a problem with it this summer. Winter usually isn't bad. Pasha has always had dry skin problems, but that's normal for Rotties.

When we first moved here in '09 it would rain everyday in the summer around 3:00 pm for a few minutes. I loved it! I've always loved thunderstorms. The last couple of years was really dry and we had problems with the fires. Luckily this year it's been pretty wet and rainy.

We love it here. I'm not crazy about the winters, coming from Texas lol.

Meagan, so happy to hear she is feeling better:) That is great news!

I'm happy to hear your little snuggle bug is feeling better, Meagan. Allergies are so frustrating for dogs or humans. Tuzzi is very lucky to have such a good mommy.
