I bought various dowels, casters, rope, screws and dowel screws and my husband got creative, with a little help from me. And we come up with this..

they really seem to be enjoying it and we added a lot of extra rope knots for skipper since he loves to chew them up. We tried to make it easy to replace anything that has rope on it so that when it gets dirty or skipper finally demolishes it we can just take it off and put on new ropes.

The food and water dish was a challenge since we didn't want to use pvc. I found the little bowls at a dollar store, I think.. 3 for $1 and we used heavy gauge aluminum rod that is inserted into a self healing air line tube to make the dish mounts and make them easily removed for cleaning and resupplying while keeping the birds away from the metal.

I want to add some dishes lower down for the parakeets since Skipper isn't allowing them near the top near Sunny (his love child with the pole he dances with).

Songlake, that is awesome! I'm wanting to build something similar... did you use casters on the bottom? I'm debating whether they'll make it unstable on the carpet if I use them...

That is an awesome stand! Everyone looks like they are really enjoying it as well:)

I did use casters on the bottom, mainly so that when I'm vacuuming I can just drag it out of the way and not have to lift it to move. As you can see the wood base does not keep them from getting the carpet area messy still :) Luckily my dogs seem to enjoy birdseed and fruit. It's not at all unstable on the carpet but it felt a little wobbly on the shed floor but that could just have been the shed floor slightly warped.

Everyone but Sunny will use the ladder to get back on the perch. None of them have all their flight feathers back yet while baby Sunny can fly luckily cause he's still fairly bad at climbing around.

I love it, and your birdies look so happy... there's something for everyone! I need to quit over-thinking it and just get started! I guess if I don't like the casters I can always just take them off again! :)
