jasper is a four year old orange winged who does not like being touched or handled. Ive had him for 4 months now and he has gone from a very timid bird to accepting treats and spending all of his time out of the cage, but Whenever I try to get him to step up or to give him tiggles he simply runs away or tries to bite me:mad:. Please help as I know he would love the attention if I could just get him used to it

I'd say give him time and be patient. He has to learn to trust you, and that's going to take time. Don't push him, and don't make him do something he obviously doesn't want to.

I also have an orange winged amazon that does not like to be touched. A breeder gave him to me when he was still on 3 feedings because he has a crooked spine and she wouldn't sell him with that problem. He gets around beautifully and if you didn't know he had the problem, you couldn't even tell. He is 2 years old now. Goes in and out of his cage, talks a blue streak, but does not like anyone to touch him. I just let him do his thing. He sometimes will step up, but not often. Good luck to you. :green1:

Perfectly normal, that's the way zons are. The greatest majority of them do not like to be touched. A little scratch on the head is usually the extent of the physical relationship with most of them. They are not really cuddly birds.
