Hello everyone. :)

My boyfriend and I recently brought home a little green cheeked conure. His/her birthday was in early may. Waiting on DNA results, but my guess is that it's a boy!

His name is Pino. If he turns out to be a girl, we may think about renaming. :)

Here are a few photos of Pino.

Thanks for looking!

Oh my, Pino is beautiful!! A true beauty. I love the turquoise color on some green cheeks! Congrats on your new flock member! =)

He is sooooo cute!!! What a handsome guy : )

Love the turquoise! He's adorable!

Cute!

What camera did you use to take a picture? Those are great shots.

Also, this is a silly question but something that has been bugging me for a few days now.

I noticed Pino is perched on that feeding bowl with a very skinny rim. Do you think it might hurt his feet? I only ask because my 5 month old Sun, Boomer has a similar skinny rimmed feeding bowl that he perches on when he feeds. I'm worried that the narrow ledge will be unforgiving to his little toe joints.

Sorry if it sounds silly, I think of the weirdest things sometimes.

As long are there are a variety of perching surfaces and they don't spend all day perched on the food bowl, I doubt it is a problem. All of my birds perch on their bowls from time to time. It's having a variety of surfaces and diameters that's important for keeping their feet in good condition.

He's pretty,...Congratulations.

Thanks everyone!

I took the photos with my 5D Mark 3. I'm a portrait photographer on the side - photography is my other passion!

I don't worry about his feet perching on the side of the bowl - he can move off of it freely if he's uncomfortable. :)

I can't wait to find out if he really is a boy or not! Thank you for all the nice words about him. He's been quite the little character so far.

Pino is absolutely adorable! I love his color too! Which method did you use to DNA test him? I recently just got my kit to feather DNA test my GCC Cho-Rok but I am too scared that I might hurt her if I do the feather plucking required. Those are really good shot btw! Cho-Rok likes to peck at the camera once she sees it instead of doing her cute little poses lol.

Thanks guys!

I actually had his breeder do the DNA test - they clipped one nail a little bit too short and got a drop of blood from there. I wasn't there to see it, thankfully. I don't think I'd have the gumption to do that myself!
