Green Cheeked Conure: Kiwi

Pacific Green Rumped Parrotlet: Peeps
My new green cheeked conure.

Hey guys!!! I finally have my green cheeked conure. I LOVE HIIIIIIIIIIM!!!!!! He LOVES to snuggle and he will let me pet him anywhere on his body(something Peeps my parrotlet will never let me do :) ) It was such a shock to have a bird who thinks of me as a complete stranger to warm up to me so fast. He is quiet, cute, love-able, and funny! I'll let ya'll know if he does any clowny things. ;) The flight went perfectly. Right when I put him in his cage he started wondering around and went right to a toy that I so hoped he would use(YES) I showed him his bed tonight and put him inside. He started to fall asleep and I covered him up.

Here are some pictures of him, lemme know what you think. :D Oh I was lucky enough to get a vet appointment with him on the 1st of September so i'm also happy that I was able to get scheduled in so early. :)

Enjoy!

Thanks! :D Yes I can tell, I got up today and went downstair and found him using his toys, i'm so happy!

Also an absolutely CUTE thing that we did! I put him inside that cotten ring you saw and then went to the other side and all you could see was his head poking out. :)

Right now I just wanted to check my internet stuff and then i'm off to make him his breakfast. :D Thanks again!

Congrats... he/she is so cute... I think you have winner there...

So sweet and so fresh and young. Did he actually eat that feast in the photo? Remind me you got this bird from a breeder, correct? They usually have a head start on sweetness and being used to people, easy to train too.

Thanks spiritbird. Well he ate about half of what I gave him, I had to throw the rest out cuz it started getting stale. Right now i've made him some lunch(actually part of his breakfast ;) )and he really likes apples. Yes I did get him from a breeder. The thing about this breeder though was that she only wanted to be a small time breeder and only have about 12 pairs for breeding. See every single chick that is hatched once they are old enough, the daughters of the breeder play(gently of course) and handle and hold the baby so that he is COMPLETELY used to being handled by the time he goes home. :)

I can't wait to take him to the vet and see if his plumage is healthy and if he himself is healthy. :D Thanks again guys!

Oh would any of you be interested in me making a video to show how tame he is? Lemme know

Oh also something I forgot to mention, he is EXTREMELY quiet!!! I'm so surprised. He's made a couple of chirps but it dosn't annoy me(not when I compare it to the sun conures on youtube!! :p )

Congrats on your baby! :D You must make a video purely for yourself and then share it because you loved it, not the other way around.;)

Lol I guess I worded it wrong. "would you be interested in seeing a video of the conure" :)

Congratulations! He is gorgeous! Calypso is VERY loud when she wants to be but that's just when she knows it's time to come into the shop with us which she loves. I successfully taught her "no shout"! I knew sunnies were loud though but this house is never quiet!

Hey congrats on teaching her not to scream! :D Most people can't handle it. Btw I wasn't referring to anyone's sun conures on her, or trying to diss them. I just watched some vids of them being really loud lol.

Thanks so much though! I'v thought of a name for him "Kiwi"

Ah Hes lovely, Im happy to hear you finally got you GCC.

I think Kiwi is a wonderful name, but have you ever fed you Kiwi, kiwi? my bird absolutely love the stuff.

Again congrats on your new bird.

Congrats on your new GCC! I love the Yellowsided GCCs (obviously!). I hope you're a lucky one and got a quiet bird but be prepared for loud noises later on :) Tiki was quiet for MONTHS... until one day she started screaming her head off when I left the room and hasn't stopped since!

I wouldn't trade her for the world, though.

Lovely name!

Oooh I knew you weren't dissing! I just thought I'd sling it on in there because Sunny's get a rap for shouting! (darling youtube sort of backs it up ahha!)

At a sanctuary I once had a blue and gold macaw go off straight in my ear. Yep, THAT was loud. ahhhha!

I do like Kiwi, I considered it for Cal but obviously as time goes on, she'll have barely any green! I also liked "kiki" but then I remembered when I was a kid and reading Enid Blyton I thought it was pronounced "Kick-eye" and immediately laughed myself stupid.

Boring anecdote of no relevance whatsoever there!!!!
