After much research and visits to numerous breeders and parrot stores, I finally decided on a beautiful African Grey :grey:(hatch date April 2017).

We don't get to pick him up for another 12 days, but that gives me time to get the cage and house all ready to go! We have 3 kids in the house ages 8, 9 and 12 so I was trying to come up with a creative and fun way to get important information across! I've been a Dog Behaviorist for 17 years and look forward to expanding and sharing my training with Valyrian using video tapes and notes! Super excited to see what the future holds for us!

Congrats. Just remember, parrots are not dogs, and dont train like them or think like them. Pics are welcomed!

welcome and love your go to info sheet.

May be worth putting up some more dangers ie aerosols, room smellies, house cleaning sprays, the oven on self clean mode, Teflon anything; hair straighteners, dryers, smoke, smoking, etc. A lot of this type of thing is done on auto pilot and can and does prove fatal unfortunately.

I should also mention African Greys don't even really get trained like other parrots. Stubborn is the rule and patience is the key.

Greys are amazing! Enjoy the ever changing goings on of your home that will soon become a grey kingdom! The threads on the CAG forum will provide much info, enjoy, enjoy!

I love my enigmatic, snobby, beautiful grey. Nigel rules the roost, he likes it that way and we are his eager subjects. Willing to please.

Yes, it's time for his majesty's shower and foot massage.

Everyday is gonna be a surprise with lots of talking, screaming, destroying everything. They're attention mongers... Before you know it you'll be spending more time with your grey than anyone else in the family ha ha ha
Have fun

cheers

I got a gray 14 months ago and he is amazing. First he is a flock bird. When Husband jets home from work he gets excited and vocal. I keep him busy with toys and puzzles, he's so smart! Our latest learning is how to whistle the "charge" sound. He's got it about halfway figured out.

Get your children engaged with your gray whether it is learning words, sounds or puzzles. They all will love it.
