Loco has been home for 1 week and 3 days. I've gotten used to his biting (I am actually more inclined to call it nipping, because while it hurts, he has never drawn blood)... yesterday I tried something new I read on one of the forums. When he goes to bite, say "no biting" and to drop your hand suddenly.. in a matter of ONE DAY (!!!), his biting/nipping has decreased significantly and when he bites, its with a lot less force.

So far, I've established he loves sweet potatoes and bananas. And of course sunflower seeds which he only gets as treats! The breeder had been giving him seeds as part of his regular diet in addition to pellets. I started to lessen the amount of seeds he got from day one. He is now only getting the sunflower seeds as a treat and is on a pellet and fruits and veggie diet... (although hes not as excited about fresh fruits and veggies as I had anticipated).. I even eat them with him and he just watches with his head tilted to the side like hes intrigued, or he thinks im just silly.

He had a bath yesterday.. im not sure he enjoyed it or not.. lol but he likes being clean, just not the getting wet part.. although he likes dunking his head in the water..lol.

All in all, its been a good first week! He says "whisper" if you mess with him too much... if you keep on he turns his head to bite you..

He's also *kind of* making a kiss sound because I do it to him all the time :)

Love my crazy (Loco) bird! :rainbow1:

So adorable! They learn very quickly. I inadvertently trained Avery not to poop on me because I don't like being pooped on... she now flies or hops off and does her business in her cage or on the towels we have laid out for her!

Sounds like you're in for a lot of fun with this little cutie :)
