Dusty: Dusky Conure
I stopped into work the other day, not to actually work, but to browse for pet supplies. While I was walking down an aisle I stopped to look at the bird display. This is when a beautiful Black-capped Conure caught my eye. He/she was so sweet. He/she immediately cage to play and was chattering. He/She made me want to get another bird <3 If only I had the money/ wasn't away for school/ had a bird that didnt like competition for attention. I love dusty and wouldnt trade him for the world but i would love to add another bird to my home at some point (possibly when i graduate after next year) but i really dont think Dusty would handle a new companion very well.

There is a bird place not far from my house who said I can foster a bird to see how Dusty handles a new one being brought into the house. Now only to see if my parents will go for the idea, if not...it will have to be put off until i get my own place. Regardless, i will be waiting until I finish college to add a new bird to the family. I feel bad enough leaving Dusty home while i am at school. I could never add another bird to the house and do that to it.

I'm the same way. I can just look at a bird in a store...the next second I'm in love. This has happened to me so many times...first it was a Moluccan 'too, then it was a baby B&G macaw, then a Green-cheeked conure, then a Patigonian conure... the list goes on and on.

I love the fostering idea! I would enjoy that so much, its like a 'try before you buy' sort of thing. Perfect!

I know how easy it would be to have a seriously large flock. We could have easily added 2 more birds to our current 2 1/2 when we were at the breeder's the other day. But I want to be able to spend a lot of time with each one and a 40+ hr work week just isn't very conducive to that.

This is why I am waiting until after I get out of school and into the working force. I'm gunna test the waters first with Dusty when i get out of school and then go from there. I will not add another bird to my family until after i know for sure that I can support them and give them the time that they need. Again i feel incredibly bad leaving Dusty home while i'm off at school. My family doesnt give him nearly enough attention...

Dusty is currently my only bird. I do plan on adding another Conure but that wont be for a LONG time.

I have a weekness for Duskys (Dusty), Green Cheeks and Black Capped Conures. I also like suns and Jendays but i dont prefer them.

I see why you fell in love with Duskies, they are so cute. You chose well!

I like Patagonians, Duskies, and Green cheeks best. I might end up getting a Patagonian. :D
