In my parents house
Parrots
A cockatiel, a bourke, and three budgies
This isn't mine, but it is a friend.
One of her baby cockatiels broke a leg, and can't get it to a vet. Is there any way to help the bird?
Here is a picture of the bird.

This poor helpless little bird needs professional help but we are unable to help you search for somewhere to take it as you do not list your location!

If we will never know then you will never get any decent help, it's a two way street!

I know you're only 15, but you really are going to have to step up and do the right thing! This poor little helpless bird is in quite a bit of pain has no reason to be this way did not ask for this and really needs help!

That poor baby can likely be rehabilitated and is most certainly in pain. To be clear, is this is a situation of will not or cannot go to a vet?

We assume great moral responsibility when keeping or breeding birds. If the problem is $$, perhaps a rescue organization or possibly shelter may be of assistance.

Where is your location? PLEASE get that poor thing to the vet.

You said this is your friend... I'm confused how you don''t know the location of your friend?... can't you ask them where your friend is located....

I'm guessing you are really asking, is there some way we can fix the leg ourselves and not have to pay a vet? The best way to answer this, is to imagine you are at your friend's house and break your arm. Would you be OK with your friend asking online how to set the break instead of taking you to the doctor? Animals can't talk, and they instinctively hide any symptoms of pain or sickness, so you can't tell from looking that they are in pain. But this baby bird is in terrible pain. Their nerves and bones are tiny, but work just as well as our. In fact they are more sensitive, because birds must be able to feel vibrations in their legs if someone is sneaking up the tree branch to eat them, like a snake. So it is PAINFUL, and a vet will fix the leg properly and give the bird pain medication. Please find it in your heart to help the little thing.

OMG, I can not even look at this pic, the poor little thing. This tiny life needs your help.
PLEASE get him to a vet ASAP.

Please take that baby to the vet. How did this happen?

I just saw a video of the baby bird, it can still use the leg, it uses it just fine. Maybe it's just splayed leg.

Oh and also, I can't take the bird because we are distant friends. She told me that there are no vet clinics where she lives. So I guess there isn't much anyone can do.

I find it hard to believe that there is any place in the United States where there isn't a veterinarian that is close by! Where I live, I have three within a 2 mile radius of my house, one of them is an AV specialist! If I increase the circle to 20 miles I probably have 15+ veterinarians!

That is a totally heartless attitude and not one that will be agreed with on here by most. This poor little bird did not ask for this treatment and deserves all our compassion and help to ensure it has the best life possible in it's man made captivity. It was brought into this life via human intervention and now it is up to those same people to do the right thing!

I hope your friend realizes that a human who breeds animals is responsible for their welfare no matter how inconvenient and decides to do the right thing and take that baby to a vet. Even in the most remote areas there are vets because even in the most remote areas people have animals. Even a large animal vet who usually sees cow and horses should be able to set a bone and is better than nothing.

Well, there are places in the USA and Canada that have much further distances between Veterinarians. The difference is clearly the travel distance and that they have Country Veterinarians, who are more commonly known as Large Animal Veterinaries. That said, this group of Farm Animal Veterinaries also care for all the Animals on a Farm including the Birds!

These Country Veterinarians have X-ray machines and much more, most have units that they travel with as they complete their visits. They also have clinics that they work out of and support small and larger Animals a like! They have everything needed to determine if the leg is in fact broken, at the very less splint it (possible more) and provide medication.

I have a very clear opinion on the reasoning going on and based on that, I have nothing more to say or add!

The birds weren't supposed to breed, it was an accidental thing. She just found out that it wasn't broken. her mother helped check for broken bones. Also I live in the United States and there's only 3 vets in my state! None of them are AV specialist.
She has no vets within a 50 30 mile radius.
