ok so I know bird's get hormonal and go through their terrible twos but Sidney has just been in a alwful mood lately!!! he is approaching his 6 month birthday.
Another question he won't poop at all in his cage he shoots the poo out of the cage is their anything I can do about that! thanks

Too young for the "sexual maturing" phase. I'm thinking that maybe you did something and Sidney is holding it against you. Hopefully his mood will change soon.

As for the poop thing, well I know Pepsi will actually hold her poop for awhile and then when she decides to do it, it will squirt pretty far. Luckily it hasn't left the cage yet. I took her to the vet, paid a fortune to run tests and blood work. In the end it turns out this is just a weird behaivior issue because there is nothing wrong with her besides that she is weird. Nothing I can do but pray it stays in the cage. So not much help I can offer on that subject, maybe Sidney wants his cage poop free.

yeah i never have to clean it but i put a board underneeth it and i always have to swiffer! thank GOd for the swiffer wet jet!

Hamlet is about six months too, and is still sweet thank goodness. I think maybe Sidney has something else going on....has it been since Daisy came home? Maybe he's jealous? Hamlet also has no problem going to the bathroom. We were doing well with him telling us when he needed to go, but lately he has just let lose anywhere.

I try to go in to get Sidney out of his cage when he is quiet to show him good birds have fun when they are quiet. anyways when I go in he doesn't want to step up and ignores me and then he will holler when I walk away.

It seems to me as if you have done something and he is taking it really personally. It could be something as small as talk to Misty and Daisy when he thought you should be talking to him. He's trying to train you, he'll get over it I'm sure when he realises that you are head of the flock, and you will talk to the others or play with them etc. :D

As for the pooping thing, Bucc would do this when I first got him, I sorted this out by putting some paper on the inside of his cage, under his swing where he will spend a lot of time on. He now only poops there and its easy to remove and replace. Not sure if this would work for sidney but its better than having him shoot it all over the place. :D

I will definitly try that - he seems a bit better today he was doing quiet quacking instad of screaming and he got a pecan :) so I think what ever I did is partially forgiven. We've been going through abbit of a family tragedy right now so things have been really crazy and I don't think he likes the change.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you are doing okay.

Think there is the reason. He doesn't like the fact that you are all so pre-occupied, he doesn't know why and doesn't understand it, so he thinks by screaming it will get your full attention. Not something you really need at this time though.

Maybe he is picking up on your "vibes" and knows that something isn't quite right. Sure he'll be back to his old self again very soon!!!

thanks guys hey one more question can birds get moody when they are molting?

Oh yes, Bucc is a real monster and so is Flynn (Little Red Rump)

Yeah, it's probably because the pin feathers are itchy and can make them sore.

He's been such an idiot today refusing to step up i tried doing step up drills with him btu he was totally un cooperative so I finally leaft him alone because I was getting too worked up and am going to go back in a bit with some pecans.

Just sit and eat the pecans in front of him....that always makes me feel better

ok he is being so obstinate and I don't want to let him win i put him in one of the teils smaller cages (took the teil out first :) ) and covered him up. He has been in such a horrible mood today and I really wanted to spend time with him since I am going to be gone this weekend.

Aw Tex, now that we have Christy join us we can leave the flaming to her, far more effective. :D

No have to agree with your first part we all get moody at times,
