Iggy- YCA
So now that I'm home, Iggy has decided that screaming is once again his favorite activity....only now its when I'm still in the room in plain sight...Chase told me he didn't scream the whole time I was gone, and now I can't get him to stop, so he's getting a lot of time outs in his cage...I just don't understand why he would scream while I'm RIGHT THERE...I don't think he would scream incessantly for no reason, so it must be something terribly wrong with me.

I guess the anesthesia hadn't worn off by the time I left, or maybe just the fear I struck in him by having him cut open since he was still being so good. I am just SO frustrated. Plus now there's someone living in the condo unit next to me (it's been vacant for a year) so I can't just ignore him and let him scream all day.

Not a good morning.

Did Chase do anything with him while you were away, or did Iggy just not scream at all? Seems very strange that he would do it as soon as you came home. Do you get frustrated or upset (if they are the right words here) when he is screaming, maybe he is picking up on that, is Chase someone who can handle anything in a calm manner? Maybe that helps?????????????

I'm not picking here I'm just wondering if Iggy is picking up something from you when he screams that he wasn't from Chase, (believe me I know how hard it is to ignore a screaming bird, you want to throttle them) :D

I'm thinking kinda like a baby, the more a baby cries the more upset we get, the more upset we get the more the baby cries. (that sort of situation)

The last time he started up I had just let him take a bite of my jelly sandwich and then sat down to eat, right across the room from him...then he just decided, "Hey, I think I'm going to scream!" and I just sat there trying not to cry while Chase put him in his cage. I just wonder if it's because he doesn't really have any emotional attachment to Chase like he does to me, so therefore he's more "exuberant" while I'm around? I just don't even know what sets him off in the first place, which makes it hard to avoid.

Yeah I've just been going over your posts concerning Iggy and I've not seen any pattern to the screaming.

Have you ever thought of a behaviourist, maybe they could help??????? with some of his issues.

Yea, I was talking to Chase this morning and I think that's my last option...someone gave me some names in a post awhile ago, I'll have to go back and look it up.

Have you had Iggy from a baby?

If Not

Do you know his background etc?

Yes, I got him when he was 3 1/2 months old, still being handfed, so I finished his handfeeding and got him on pellets and have had him now for almost 5 years (at the end of July).

While I can't offer any advice on the screaming & why he's doing it, I can tell you that it was Darkchi that posted about the behaviorists in your area.

and my answer to your solution....

:D:D Yeah, I'm trying to work out what would be better, Chi with or without coffee, trouble with the tape is that you need to get within beak range.

I think that's a pretty good idea Chi...but he got me good yesterday when the potential pet sitter was over, and now the tip of my left middle finger is numb/throbbing, which interferes with my typing on PF...he's gone too far! I can't find that post again yet, but I'll keep looking.
