My conures are not best feathered friends

Parrots
Hybrid conure who is cool
A green cheek that is not so cool but still loveable
So we got a new conure and she has slowly warmed up to us and all that good stuff. We supervise her with the other conure but man they literally go behind my back to fight. I was hoping having them out together they would warm up to each other, but I don't think it's going to happen. I don't want to take one out and not the other because I feel like that wasn't helping either. So I don't know what to do. (Aside from very closely supervising them.)

Also, the new one doesn't dance.

My sun & jenday didn’t instantly connect. They bickered quite a bit when I first introduced them. I feed them pellets primarily, and use seed as treats. They aren’t fans of fresh foods. I still try!

What I did is I added 2 seed bowls side by side so they were essentially eating together. Then they weren’t bickering. If you feed your conures seeds primarily it may not work. With time things got a lot better. In fact now I’m the odd one out as they’d rather be together.

That's what's so crazy! They eat together and preen (themselves) together. They can somewhat stay in the same room as each other, but if I put them on opposite shoulders -- they go behind my back where it's hard for me to reach them to bit each other's beaks off!

It sounds like they don’t want to share you… perhaps the classic pecking order “dominance hierarchy” in action. Who starts the sparring? Conures are bold characters. That’s great that they are sharing other spaces. Just a thought… Perhaps They shouldn’t be in the situation to share you until the new one is confident in his new environment. Looking forward to hearing your progress. 💛Lou
