recently I got a baby conure and I already had a 1y/o conure named ChiChi. At first chichi didnt like the new one now he likes him and they love to be together but now ChiChi has changed with me he does not go on my finger anymore he doesnt get excited when I come home and its like I dont even exist he couldnt care less. Is this the way its going to be now. The baby still doesnt want anything to do with me and still runs away from me. Im so sad

I hate to break this to you, but you've been dumped.....when they decided to enjoy their own company, they figured they had more in common.....that's what happens when you set close friends up on blind dates.....

Have you tried spending alone time with each bird by itself? Or perhaps separating them for the time being until you can reform your bond with ChiChi and build one with the new baby?

Conures, are not like ferrets (for example) or having two dogs or two cats who would still most likely like you. A bird wil either hate or love a new bird. Have you quarintine them? I can handle my Green cheek conue Clover. She will lay on her back in my hand, she loves head scratches, and she sits on my shoulder and will even play with my hair. I admit she has came along ways since I got her. She is fast approaching a year. When I got her I was told she was around six months old. Anyways, I know if I put another conure with her I will be dumped. The Green cheeck conure I had when I was young and through high school loved me. He would bobb his head and jump up and down when he saw me sometimes. He also layed on his back in my hands but he was fearless. I also had a cockatiel as a child. Both birds were in seperate but good size cages and I could handle both of birds. However, I also could tell both birds hated each other. If either one saw each other they showed aggression. The cockatiel would hiss or the conure looked like he wanted to go into attack mode. When I do get a second bird (a min macaw) it will have to have more attention and have to sadly come before Clover (not to sound harsh). Clover knows she is a bird and I am sure when she is an adult if she is unhappy she would let me know. I love her but she also has a mind of her own and maybe I coud never be enough for her and only a mate would fill the void. Time will tell. I posted pics before of her by here is a new one.
