My Caique has a Bulge in his Neck-Advice, Please!

Hey there.
Our seven-year-old caique, Bunsen, started making shrill noises two days ago and then yesterday, out of nowhere, a giant bulge showed up underneath his head on the side of his neck. He’s been really lethargic, but is eating a ton, as per usual, and seems to be breathing fine. We took him to the emergency hospital yesterday, and they drained some of it, to see if it might be a tumor. It’s hardened and all they drew out was blood with no abnormal WBC or any bacteria. They said that it was a different contusion, but it’s as busy as his head.
They sent him home with us, but his demeanor hasn’t changed much. We’re going into our regular avian vet tomorrow, but have any of you seen this with your birds or have any idea what’s going on? I’m worried to edit until tomorrow, but that vet seemed to not be as familiar with caiques, as we would have hoped.

Bulges could be anything, and unfortunately nothing the can be diagnosed on an online forum. I’d wait to hear what your regular avian vet says.

I agree with Chris. Bulges can be a lot of different things. I would guess that it’s a tumor, but I’m not quite sure since they couldn’t drain anything.

Definitely update us on what the vet says!
