Hi again,
As some of you may remember I posted about a 18 months old cockatiel I rescued from very bad conditions on July 15. He was kept outside in a small cage with 4-5 other tiels in a mobile house community. According to the owner he was never handled, never let out of cage, parent fed… The guy took him out of cage with a thick towel. He didn't have a name…
He was screaming like crazy for the first few days, and once in a while we still hear this scream now. Luckily he happened to be a strong and healthy bird. He smashed into the walls and made himself bleed when I accidentally let him out. He drew my blood several times… I felt like I caught a wild bird from a jungle. I put on thick leather gloves and clipped him myself on the very first day.
I was skeptical, but decided to give him all the love he deserved.
And now, less than 3 mo later he is my lap kitty - cage free, cuddly and sweet. He is still a bit suspicious, but the transformation is amazing. We are learning to step up, and Murzik is surprised to find out that my fingers are not for biting them, but for stepping up, giving treats and scratching his head. We take showers and go for the walks together, even to the grocery store. I'm so happy he is in my life now. Sharing a few pics…

It breaks my heart when I think how many miserable birds are out there and how little it takes to make them happy!
