over the last few months I have been giving Mulawa a rub on the belly while she is climbing around inside the cage. She is also licking my fingers when I put them through the cage. But over the last three days she running along her perch then jumping onto my fingers and going to town rubbing her beak, face and beaking my fingers then she jumps back onto the perch and runs away making a sound that like a bird purring. other times she will spin around the perch.

Of course Delfin is far too dignified to do such things. But he will climb up the side of the cage to get his belly rubbed. Delfin is now feeding Mulawa and me (trying, not succeeding) Anyone else experiencing this type of behaviour with their Alexandrines?

I notice Edgar is rubbing his beak on everything too. He first started doing it after he ate when he would have food all over it but now he does it often with or without food on it.
Is it normal?

Hi There,

My Alex is the same. he's going through a massive molt (its his first and he looks like he's going bald :P) and he's going nuts lately. i think the time of the year and the fact he's molting are really affecting him. last week he was quite cranky, but this week he's being as sweet as sugar :) with regards to beak rubbing, well it seems like its normal as mine is always going on rubbing his beak an anything he could. even my shoulders or fingers
