Moving With Conures

Hello!
I am moving to California for 4 months in August and I want to take my feathered buddies along with me (I have two) and I was looking into flights and pet shipping companies.
I am posting on here mainly to see if anyone has any suggestions or experience moving around with parrot's especially on airplanes.
United Airlines supposedly allows you to bring your pet along in the cabin for a fee so that is what I am looking into. As far as that though when I arrive I won't have cages or anything so I'll be starting from scratch.
Any advice is welcome!
I do not want to rehome them or leave them with a pet sitter!

Both are exquisite, I can appreciate you don't wish to part with them!

Most airlines permit pets in cabins, subject to a fixed number of carriers per flight. Fees apply, though certified therapy animals are generally exempt. United does not permit cockatoos in the cabin (!) but that is not a factor. I have seen the process at work; you board as normal and must have a carrier that fits under the seat bottom in front of you. For this reason you cannot have a bulkhead seat (barrier in front) or one that abuts to the forward boarding door. (may not have a barrier) It is acceptable in flight to place the carrier on your lap, but typically removing the bird will bring immediate flight attendant attention! During periods of turbulence the crew may ask you to return the carrier under the seat. (to prevent injury to surrounding folks)

I am not a fan of shipping birds in the cargo pits, though many do with generally good results.

Haha I wouldn't release either of them! They are both flighted and hostile!

I moved cross country with my dog and Parrot when I was 23. I drove took me 3 days I would bring my bird in the hotel with me and let her out. Parrots are good travelers.

How are you going to get your stuff cross country. Driving is the best way to do it IMO.
