Moving abroad?

England
So at the moment I live in the UK, and albeit I like living in England I have always wanted to move away. I'm always so jealous to see people posting from the US, AUS, Canada or New Zealand!

I would love the opportunity to live abroad. Has anyone ever done it? Am I alone in this weird feeling haha?

I am pretty sure it isn't considered living abroad, but I am originally from West Va. in the US and now live in Canada:)

I was born and raised in Germany. ;) Didn't come to the US until 1988.

I definitely want to see Australia, it's #1 on my bucket list. :54:

When I was younger, that exact same feeling hit me a lot. Sometimes I wish I could just pack up and move to a different country or state. While in high school, I would look at beautiful sceneries around the world in books/ magazines and drooled. Right after high school, I started to work and supported myself while attaining higher education. Between high school and having children, I have done a lot of travelling. That was where all of my time and income went to during that time. For a while, I kept arguing with my mom about wanting to buy a mobile home to live in. My mom was very strongly against my idea. As I grow older, I realize that regardless of where I settled, I will eventually get tire of the same old scenery and graving to move on. It is human nature. Where is it going to end? Long ago, I have come to my sense and content with where I live now and make the best of it everyday. I still do some travelling, not as much as I used to when I was single, but I realize that is the best way to enjoy new sceneries. If you make a career of of you hobby, you will hate the hobby!;)

I've never traveled and I've never been interested in it. I once left the province of Ontario to Kanata Quebec, other than that I've never even left the province. To me traveling is just inconvenient...So much change and hassle. I just like having a low population. The only reason I'd want to travel is to see wildlife...I have no interest in history, culture, monuments or anything like that. I'm happy where I am :)

I am kinda like Nathan.. I have so many friends at the moment who are traveling around the world.. Ones in Malaysia, another in England, a few are in America!

The way i see it, why waste time going on holidays when in 2 months you will just come back home and be exactly the same as it was 2 months prior..

I might of been the only teenager who just wanted to go to university, have my career, and just buy a house!

I would LOVE to move to ireland... Not travel.. but move.. Because i hate Australian heat, and i will marry an irish man ;) hahaha

But i don't enjoy traveling places to look at different sights, because to me everywhere looks the same

Each to their own!

I am very happy being at home with Fargo and my horses and studying, whilst everyone else my age is out traveling, i enjoy riding my horses each day and playing with my bird.. Which i know will last longer than a few months ;) I will always have them! :)

So many people want to come to Australia to see the Great Barrier Reef.. I only live 3 hours away from it and i haven't even seen it hahahaha

I think if i ever move it will just be to Tasmania, because it is lovely and cool there, plus i can bring all my animals ;)

I love everyone's different perspectives. I think I just want out of England haha but that's easier said then done I guess.
Wonder if anyone made a thread showcasing their surroundings?! I'd love that

I'm in Western Australia and a great many British (especially police), Irish (especially nurses) and others are moving here. I'm not here permanently myself, as a federal employee I get posted all over the country. Much of this state is, or can get, very hot (it was 45c here yesterday and despite being in the tropics, my locality is not noted for extreme heat, at least not right on the coast where I am). For me the "dream locations" are South Island NZ and Tasmania. I'll be moving to the latter in a few years, as much as I love NZ I can't take the birds there, while I can take nearly all to Tasmania. There is not a great deal of work to be had in Tasmania though, but the flip-side is that real estate is very cheap compared to the mainland.

If you do decide to move to another country, Josh, just be aware you may not be able to take birds there- certainly not to Oz or NZ. But they are the picks of countries to move to- Oz is popular because we got through the GFC better than most other countries (despite the best efforts of our recently departed PMs Gillard & Rudd to flush Oz down the toilet). Compared to US we have generous minimum wages and FREE UNIVERSAL MEDICAL CARE!! (although technically it's not really free as we pay a levy on top of tax).

I can understand you wanting to leave UK, as much as I love that country it's far too crowded.

Thanks for the insight mike! I think as soon as I finish my law degree I'm going to attempt to use it to get out of the country. The UK just isn't a pleasant place to be, not for me anyway. I don't know what it is. I'm 22 so maybe it's just a young person thing, but I want more wildlife, scenery, less young people and partying and such.

I don't know, can I come and try out some places with you guys haha

Hahaha indeed I do, sunny sunny queensland ;)

and Josh that is a good idea!!! Have a thread where everyone can post their scenery ! :)

I'll go first. Below is the scenery where I am.

Yes, there's nothing there but white. It's called snow. We have way too much. I hope you enjoyed my picture. :D

Well, we're not short of lawyers/solicitors but perhaps there's a specialist niche you could fill :)

Hahahaha David :p

Here is where i live!

Our house is on the top of a mountain, in a big valley surrounded by bigger mountains ;)

This is out the back of our property.. Yes i have climbed all those mountains!

Then the side.. No, i have never climbed that massive mountain ;) One day...

and this is google maps... In the middle of no where.. It is like that for ages, just mountains and valleys!

Gosh Tab don't say that I would love to move to Aus! I would never leave!

Hopefully I can look for legal work elsewhere soon! :D

My cousin is a barrister (used to be a bobby) in the West Country. He's the son of my Dad's older sister who was a post WWII war bride, born in Oz although oddly enough, my grandfather also came from West Country (Devon).

I just want to live close to somewhere beautiful, but not close enough to anyone else haha. That way I can have all my birds, all happily singing and I can work peacefully at what I enjoy!
