Dory - Cockatiel
Which parrots are most popular in your state, owned as pets? Ours is the following...

-Cockatiels
-Budgies
-Senegal
-Any Greys
-All Ringnecks
-Blue and Gold macaw

Its a short list, but these are most that are owned by people who keep them as pets. Those that breed have more exotic ones. Share your towns favourite, im curious to see if it differs from here to there..:D

I'll be posting some pics of my friends grey and ringnecks soon!!!

I'd have to say the most popular here are

Budgies,
Cockatiels A lot of the time these are aviary birds

Greys,
Amazons
Macaws
Senegals

I think a lot of people keep parrakeets, but not sure of the species of these (apart from the above)
The Bourkes seem to be gaining in popularity now. Probably because of the nature of these birds. Very gentle and quiet.

So the most popular seems to be budgies and cockatiels. Probably because of the cheap price and easily attainability in petshops they are always around. But i love tiels, they are a large Too in a small package!

I forgot the amazon! Well i must say, havent actually seen someone owning these birds, only that they are cute. My brother worked in a petshop many years ago and had to take care of some zons, they sure are cute birds. But i hope that eckies will soon gain more popularity, they are mostly aviary birds here!

at pet stores around here (keep in mind there aren't any stores in the town I live in I have to go about an hour either way to get to one) but anyways you will find budgies, cockatiels, conures, quakers if you want something really specific you have to go to a breeder. I am really glad though that most pet stores around here have stopped carrying the larger birds I think this helps protect the bird and people from impulse buys.

Yeah thats the truth, I really wish all pet stores would stop selling birds altogether, There's never any staff in these places who know enough about the birds they are supposed to be looking after.
