Perjo - Female CAG hatch Nov 2015
Figure I'd share this, maybe those who feel their fid isn't eting as well could benefit.

I wake up, sometimes Perjo is moving about in her blanket covered cage, and I start talking to her as I approach to remove her blanket. She's usually fairly vocal in her responses and wants to grab my finger or let me rub the sides of her head.

I swap out the bowls, and try to add a different treat or supplement to her pellets each morning. I most often add small banana pieces (as they won't ruin the pellets for the rest of the day), dried egg, dried veggies like peas and corn, and a few small pieces of almond. If I make myself eggs I give her a little bit (scrambled or hard boiled only is what I stick with for her). I then go about my business making my breakfast and I sit down and eat it where she can see me. If she wasn't already eating her breakfast she start to when she sees me eating.

I got away from this practice a few times over the summer b/c I became to comfortable in thinking Perjo has life all figured out. She eats more consistently in the morning if I eat in her presence. I will also cheer her on with "good girl, eatin breakfast" while she buries her beak into the bowl.

I thought Jasper was a picky eater too but I think he just doesn't like his veggies cooked. I'm still figuring him out because he's fairly new to me but it just seems like he'll "try" it if it's raw. Anything I put in a foraging toy, he'll try. I've been cutting the veggies in his food bowl smaller since I've been putting them in raw. He seems to at least picking through it if not eating it altogether. Not sure how I can get him to eat grains and legumes. Are they necessary to round out his diet? I also noticed if I put less quantity in his food bowl, he seems to empty it. Maybe I put too much in?? By the time I chopped up 4 different veggies plus the fruit, I end up giving him about 1/4 cup.

My suggestion - if your fid isn't eating what you're giving, try serving it a different way.
