Thanks all. I've been using my telephoto (zoom) lens as to take pictures of her lately. Harder to focus, but as I can sit a good distance away she acts a lot more normal, and I don't have to worry about her biting my lens and scratching it.
Though Shade, I browsed through pictures of your birds a bit ago, and I've gotta say you definitely take the cake for most photogenic birds/bird photography skills haha.
It definitely is nice; once you have an SLR going back to a regular old point and shoot digital is impossible. I actually got mine on Craigslist for a really awesome price two years ago. I paid $650 for the camera itself (Canon 400D) three lense, a camera bag, a polarization filter, memory card, spare battery, and a few other accessories.
