Here is a new one...

Nic Nic has always been super friendly. He always let anyone take him out of his cage at any time.

Now, he refuses to allow us to take him out of his cage in the morning.

He will happily come to any of us, anytime after around 2pm or so...but never before that. By 4pm, he is dancing his butt off, looking for attention, hoping to be taken out.

No idea what started this, routine has been the same. He does have a bunch of pin feathers as of late, and has moulted a LOT of feathers in the past week.

Wondering if there is a connection to his mood swings?

If you had a bunch of feathers trying to poke through your skin, you'd be grumpy too. ;)

Molting is a tough time for them. They're irritated, so they crave affection and support, but being petted can hurt.

Just think about a screaming toddler who's teething. Pretty much the same thing.

LOL I was just remarking on it being the opposite with Puck! I let him out of his cage in the morning and he gets all bouncy and excited! Even if I don't shut his door at night, he just sits there until I get up, then gets all bouncy! LOL

If this behavior started with the molting, that's probably it. I hope he feels better!

nut didn't want a head rub, but did want me to scratch at the pins and yes she was uber grumpy

bathing was a great help, even at times she was not wanting one!

I want to give him a bath, he LOVES them...but I need to do it in the morning so he has time to dry properly. It's starting to get chilly, last thing he needs is to be damp at night.
