Is it every bird or is it just my bird, one day he is all dancing and having a good day and letting me hold him, then the next he wont let me hold him. Are they moody and tempremental on the lines of a human being? Input appreciated

IMO if you want a friendly parrot treat it as you want to be treated yourself. Read his body language & yes i think parrots need their space. They don't have to do what we want them to do. I never pick any of my birds up unless i ask step up & if they don't want to I just let them be.

Also remember that you're building trust. Parrots are very sensitive creatures and if you do anything that violates that trust in their eyes they'll react by pulling away or acting fearful or aggressive.

The times I've made a mistake Kazi has let me know. He didn't speak to me for an entire day after his first bath and he bit a lot. Now that we have more of a bond he's quicker to forgive. Like Pedro, I ask, I rarely demand, and I apologize when I screw up. It's tempting to think of parrots in terms of 'pets' like cats and dogs, but they're not. They're highly intelligent and sensitive creatures and they deserve our respect and kindness, not our domination.

as said above!
with having a rather mental parrot myself, if nut is not amused, i leave her to it, this stand offish technique works now, as i feel we have a good bond and she generally can't bear to be left out of things, my man is her fav person, an when his had enough of her, an shoooss her off him, she comes to me, all fluffed up and annoyed, i know better then to try touching her at this point, lol
after a short time, she starts with the bowing for a head squitch and then i know its safe
