molting

how long does a molt last?? just when i thought it was all over, nut is shedding more feathers an covered in pins still, she is looking uber fluffy, which is good, but she is still chewing her feathers, as her tail feathers are chewed, she's had some new ones ;(

It can last a few months. My ringneck Chico is in full molt right now. He hasn't wanted to be near anyone in a few weeks. I mist him daily. That is the only time he cares to be near me.

It really seems like they are molting all the time. Rosie has molted 2 times so far in 2011. I am sure it is a pain for them as well as us.

nut seems pretty ok about it, an lurves her mistings now lol but could also explain why she likes to sit in a corner at times, in her i want to be alone mode!
