Today was a wonderful day and let me tell you why. My fiance, my son, Molly (in the Pack'o'bird) went on an hour and half drive away to a wine store to pick up some wine we had ordered. On the ride there I took Molly out of the Pack'o'bird carrier and onto my shoulder and she had the time of her life looking around and enjoying the mountain scenery. I would put her back into the carrier every 20 mins for some food/water/to go potty and she seemed delighted with the whole trip in and out of the carrier. She literally did not make a peep the whole ride. We know the owner of the store and he agreed to let her come in, she did her usual hello squawking and then settled down with the Pack'o'bird on my back as we looked around the store. The owner LOVED her, wanted to have her on his shoulder, she hopped on with delight and as long as she could see me and felt safe she rode around with him while he helped other customers. I am pretty sure he wants a parrot now too, since he has a store and can be with a parrot all day at work and lives upstairs in the store I think that's like an ideal situation for a parrot owner. Yet again, I find myself championing for parrots to everyone I come into contact with lol.
After the store we were going to go home but I was soooo hungry and asked my fiance if we could just TRY to find a lunch spot that would allow us to take her inside. We parked by an Italian restaurant and I ran into see if it was okay. Reluctantly they said we could bring Molly in but if she became too loud or anyone complained about her being there we would have to leave. I thought that was fair enough so we went in with her. I had packed her a lunch for such an occurrence, a bunch of mixed seeds (she usually gets a very small amount in the morning) that I knew she would sit there and eat happily. She did just that! She made one peep the whole lunch and was a very very good girl. I also did talk to her a lot to make sure she wasn't scared, I am sure until she made a sound they were wondering why I was saying reassuring things to my backpack haha. On the trip home everything was great except she regurgitated a couple of times, I am guessing she was a touch car sick (she is totally fine since we got home) or she was ultra happy. The other thing was that when we were about 5 minutes from home she started screaming nonstop! I don't know if she knew we were almost home and very excited or if she was just at her breaking point for excitement for the day but I don't care because it was one of the best days ever! My baby did soooo good and I am so proud of her!!!
