I found out Sunday another favorite food for Buddy, peanuts. I haven't given him peanuts because of their fat content and I had read about different fungi that can be in peanuts. Sunday I found raw peanuts like my parents use to buy when I was little so I got a pack. When I got home, I demonstrated to Buddy how to shell a peanut, in hindsight I'm rolling my eyes at myself. Buddy is 24 years old and im sure more experienced than me, lol.

Husband was concerned he wouldn't be able to crack the peanut shell, I laughed. Sure enough, Buddy is a pro.

That's funny, I picked up some the other day and wasn't sure if mine knew how to open them, but man did he know. The only thing is I tried to show him that there are 2 peanuts in them, he just gets the one and drops the shell. Now he drops them and looks at me and waits till I get the other one out and give it to him.

Gus Loves them. Funny watching him eat. He will crack the shell get one nut out hold it in his mouth and work it around till the skin is off then 1/2 the nut goes under his tongue he eats half then gets the one from under his tongue eats that cracks the second nut out and starts over again. Makes me laugh

When buying raw peanuts, you need to be careful & purchase rood grade peanuts in closed/sealed bags, because mold spores can grow on unroasted peanut shells.....you can also roast your own peanuts...there are a plethora of recipes on the internet, but it's best to roast them unsalted.....

Buddy is so pretty! It looks like he enjoyed his peanut:D And with practice, zons can crack small nuts like almonds and filberts:) Those beaks are natures answer to a nutcracker, literally!
